Hi Guys, I AM ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE FOR SOME ANSWERS HERE!! THESE THINGS ARE RUNING MY LIFE.
So the photo i have attached is the closest thing to my skin right now except with me there is no runny oil anyway, My skin is very dry, if i wipe my finger on my face there is no oil on my finger, them filaments now plague all over my cheeks, not just by the nose like is shown in the photo, mine are also prominent on the forehead (T-zone), their on the jaw where hair grows, chin, back and chest.
Before i get into topical solutions, i want to explain when i noticed these after changing my diet.
So before 2017 June, my diet was higher in polyunsaturated fat ( Nuts, Seeds, Salmon, Chicken etc) which is a type of fat that is more liquid in room temperature. Also before 2017 June i eat zero saturated fat in my diet. before 2017 June i had oily ish skin, only had them filaments in the nose cracks, on the nose etc, not all over my cheeks etc, didnt get many red spots then and dont get many red spots now.
Basically in june 2017 i discovered the whole ancestral community/Weston A Price/Ray peat and at that point basically cut out all sources of Polyunsaturated fat (from nuts, needs, oils, salmon etc) and instead focused on lots of saturated fat from real butter/cheese/coconut oil/red meats etc.. (When i did this lots of hormonal issues improved dramatically, testosterone sky rocketed, thyroid etc all improved, this is well known in research, we have been brainwashed to believe that saturated fat is bad for us but in fact it's absolutely essential and something our ancestors ate a lot of, i am not asking anyone to critique saturated fat itself, that is a separate thing so keep them opinions to yourself) Saturated fat is solid in room temperature.
Anyway, since i made this dietary change in 2017 June, the first thing i noticed was that my skin went overall dryer, months on i also noticed these filaments moving from not just my nose but all over my cheeks, forehead, jawline where hair is, chin, back, chest etc..
Now my theory is that because polyunsaturated fat found in Nuts, Seeds etc is more liquid and saturated fat is more solid, my sebum has taken the composition of this. I think? Has anyone with these filaments had similar dietary changes?? Or would this make sense? I have heard the fat you eat does make up your sebum so it makes sense.
I am willing to try eating the way i did before june 2017 again but i needed some re assurance because i'm scared that my testosterone levels will drop from what they are now so i don't want to do it without some clarification..
(If anyone is to recommend some sort of topical thing, please bare in mind my skin is ultra sensitive, dry and i get eczema so would need to use something that would not make these things worse because i will just look red then)..
Thanks guys, i really hope you can help me!
Hi, you might try Lotrimin Ultra (not the other Lotrimin).I have oil plugs that protrude slightly from pores mostly around chin area and some on side cheeks. I use this cream every night on this part of my face ( not on nose or forehead). It has helped a lot! My skin is very dry and I only wash with Johnston Newborn baby Washmorning and night. My guess is the oil gets stuck in the pores and doesnt flow like normal skin. Hope this helps. Caution - it may bring some things to the surface at first, but mine rarely breaks out now. Good luck!
