Hi,
I've been battling with acne for a long time. But this time i have a huge cyst om my cheek. You can see there are 3 little whiteheads forming.
What is the best way to get rid of this?
Besides not popping it wait it out or? I have already used benzylperoxide thats what you see the dry patch around it
Btw on the picture it looks way smaller.
Put some tea tree oil eucalyptus oil on the spot - it will sting a bit.
Be aware that you may have fungal acne rather than ordinary acne, if you have been battling acne for a long while Have you taken antibiotics ? Do you have dandruff ? Do you have a while tongue ? If you get back to me with answer to these questions, I may be able to provide information that will help you control your acne.
Hi
Thank you so much for your reaction.
I really appreciate it.
I'm currently on a antibiotic called doxycycline for about 2 weeks now.
And yes i have dandruff and i just looked at my tongue it is Indeed white. What do i do than?
I'm sooo scarred this is going to leave a huge scar. I already have acne scars i'm so depressed about it.
If you have a white tongue and if you have dandruff, then you most likely have fungal acne. Doxyclycine will make fungal acne WORSE because doxycycline is an antibiotic and antibiotics kill the "good" bacteria that control fungus, and the fungus gets "out of control" and causes acne like symptoms.
A white tongue indicates that you have an outbreak of candida and and dandruff indicates that you have an outbreak of malasezzia - both of these are fungi and they cause acne like symptoms.
Outbreaks of fungal acne are caused by taking antibiotics such as doxycycline (and/or birth control pills and/or prednisone and some other meds).
I STRONGLY suggest that you start applying a topical antifungal cream such as clotrimazole (available without prescription) to the affected areas. And if you are ONLY taking the doxycycline for acne (which the doxycycline will be making worse) then I would cease taking the doxycycline. If you are taking the doxycycline for another medical condition (other than acne), then I guess you should seek medical advice on stopping taking the doxycyline.
Tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil (or peppermint oil) should kill the fungus in the spot, and dry it out. I don't think putting tea tree or eucalyptus oil (or peppermint oil) on the spot will cause scarring.... You could add a dab of hydrocortisone cream to the spot to reduce the inflammation, but don't use hydrocortisone cream for more than a few days as hydrocortisone cream reduces the body's immune response.
Buy some antidandruff shampoo and wash your head in that, and wash your face in it also, if it is not too irritating. Use strict hygiene protocols to avoid getting a secondary bacterial (staph) infection in the affected areas. Double wash your hands before touching the affected areas, wash the affected areas just once a day (or maybe twice a day) in chlorhexadine wash (sold as Hibiclens in the US). See if you can get chlorhexadine wash with no or low alcohol. And NEVER touch your nose and then touch the affected areas without twice washing your hands in antibacterial wash.
The key thing is to control the fungus/fungi which is/are causing your acne like symptoms. See how you go controlling the acne generally, with applying the clotrimazole cream. If you let me know which country you are in, I can provide information about more targeted topical antifungals to use to control your acne like symptoms (which are not ordinary acne, but instead are most likely fungal acne).
Epsom salt water works well for me and could possibly work for you. I pour a generous amount of Epsom salt in a container (with a lid, so I can cover it and use it over and over). I bring filtered water to a boil and then pour a littleover the Epsom salt and mix it until thesalt dissolves. I let the water cool. Then, using clean hands, I dip a cotton ballin the salt water and dab it on my face or the spot in question. I repeat this over and over, using a clean cotton ball each time. You can watch a show or whatever while you do this.I leave the salty residue on my face overnight. I find that ithelps to bring the cyst to a head, then I continue doing it until it dries up. I put a towel under my neck so the salt water doesn't get all over my clothes.
If you have a white tongue and if you have dandruff you 99% likely have fungal acne and the doxycycline has probably caused it. You probably started with ordinary acne, and then it turned to fungal acne from taking the antibiotic, doxycycline. I would find a doctor/ dematologist who understands fungal conditions and get advice from him/her.
If you are ONLY taking the doxycycline for acne (ie, not for any serious bacterial infection) then there is no harm in stopping it. But, do seek advice from a doctor/dermatologist who understands fungal conditions
Be aware that most doctors and absolutely most dermatologists are "in denial" about acne caused by fungus, and they will keep trying to make you take antibiotics, which are the cause of problem , now, if not initially.
In any case start applying anti-fungal cream to the affected area. start with clotrimazole and then try tebenafine cream mixed with the clotrimazole cream, if you can get tebenafine cream without a prescription in the Netherlands. Tebefanine cream is the best treatment for malasezzia. Clotrimazole will treat (to some extent) both malaszzia and candida. Nystatin cram is the best treatment for candida, if you can get it without a prescription in the Netherlands.
Because you have a white tongue (which indicates candida) and dandruff (which indicates malasezzia) you probably have both malasezzia AND candida.
Also use anti-dandruff shampoo to wash your hair, and apply to your face etc. etc. if it does not irritate your face.
The fungal acne is unlikely to go away while you continue to take doxycycline or any other antibiotic. Start taking probiotics after you stop taking the antibiotic.
