This is the first time Ive ever posted on here so bare with me. I have been breaking out terribly within the last 2 years. Im a 23 year old female and had reasonably clear skin until I turned 19. For the last 4 years I have been dealing with temperamental skin. I have had periods of bad breakouts, and periods where my skin has calmed down a lot. Throughout the years I have tried and tested numerous products, antibiotics, topicals and prescriptions for my acne. Within the last 2 years especially, my skin has been flaring a lot......especially around the chin and cheek area. In the last 5 in a half months I have been taking the generic version of the birth control Diane 35. Previously to that I had the implanon in for the full three years before getting it removed. I dont think the implanon worsened my acne but I had my suspicions that it may be contributing hence switching birth control. My reasons for switching was obviously skin related since my skin was breaking out terribly. Since starting Estelle 35 birth control (generic version of Diane 35) my skin went crazy. Not only did my skin freak out but mentally I was struggling with my confidence and mood. Still, 5 in a half months later my skin is still problematic and Im seeing very little improvement. How long should it take to start seeing a difference in the condition my skin? Im starting to loose my patience. If my acne hasnt improved yet, does it mean my hormones arent the cause to my breakouts?

Why are you not seeing your dr?

you should be on anti biotics if your acne is severe and not under control ie: if its not clearing or spreading.

i would suggest a course of anti biotics rather than topicals.

I'm so sorry to hear this .. But birth control might not cut it . I'm almost an 18 year old girl and I've been on birth control since I was 15 and it has never helped my skin .. Have you tried a sulfur wash ? I would definilty see a Dermo if it's out of control . I know how you feel I'm skin took a jump for the wrost about 6-7 months ago and I'm just now recovering from it .. I truly wish I could help more !
