There is no solicitation allowed on Acne.org, so we carefully look at any requests for Acne.org members to volunteer for things. In this case, I have spoken to the researcher and it appears to be a legitimate study with no financial component that is furthering our understanding of acne. Hello everyone!

I am a postgraduate student studying my Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at Swansea University in the United Kingdom. I™m looking to recruit men and women to take part in a research project exploring the experience of individuals living with acne.

I have lived with acne since my early teenage years and this has has ignited my academic interest in how others like me experience the condition. Despite the prevalence of acne in adolescents and adults all over the world, in psychological research little attention has been given to the day-to-day experience of acne as reported by the sufferers themselves. Particularly, I am interested in the impact that acne has on your life, your reflections on consultations you have had with doctors/dermatologists, and whether the experience of acne differs between individuals depending on their age, gender, or social experience.

For those who might be interested in taking part, the research will involve you and I having a brief discussion (30-60 minutes) about this topic. This will take place through typed text form over an instant messenger service (i.e. Facebook Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, WhatsApp) OR verbally over the telephone. This is subject to your preference and convenience. The confidentiality of all participants shall be ensured in the final report, and you will be free to discontinue participation at any time. All those who express an interest in taking part will be emailed a brief sheet outlining this research in more detail.

In order to take part you will have to meet the following criteria:

- You must be over 18

- You must have lived with acne for at least 6 months at any point in your life (the clinical or self-reported severity of your acne does not matter)

- You must have been seen by a doctor/dermatologist for your acne at least once at any point in your life
