Ok so i just watched this video:
and her other video

And this made me really want to make this post.

I have acne since i was 12, now i am 27 and i still get pimples so now and then. Nothing major most of it still heals within 1-2 days.

TLDR;
-Don't blindly follow product suggestion
-Eat healthy (check for deficiencies)
-Use moisturizers and sunscreen
-Visit multiple doctors/dermatologists (if your healthcare allows it)
-What works for me doesn't necessarily work for you

Age 12-16

Oh boy my skin was literally pumping gallons of oil/sebum. This is the part of my life where i had the most acne on my face. My lifestyle didn't change but hormones do ofcourse. I wasn't affected much by acne I still had friends and nobody bullied (god bless), so I never did anything to battle the acne. Later on my sister introduced me to tea tree oil face wash. I kept using it since i read positive things about it. One big mistake is that I never put on any moisturizers or creams. Later on for why this was a HUGE MISTAKE

Age 17-22

Hey more hormones and the thought of wanting a girlfriend really got me. I went to the doctor and asked for medicine. I had like 3-4 types of anti-biotics (didn't finish the last one I think, cause my father forbid me for taking so much medicine) and 4 types of creams. I think when i used a-retinol my acne went away like 90%. Hurray no more acne except ugly scars :smileys_n_people_41:. This probably due to me not wearing any sunscreen when i was using creams and pimples naturally causes scars when it happens on the same spot over and over AND OVER.

I saw commercials and people saying that bio-oil heals scarring pretty well. My first reaction was oh it's pretty cheap AND it heals scarring? Count me in. After using it for like 2 weeks my skin break out again and it never got any better with the a-retinol cream. This is where roaccutane comes in. Yes no pimples once again, but extremely dry lips to a point where i can barely open my mouth. Time to quit roaccutane and get acne again :smileys_n_people_30:.

Age 23-25

Oh lord the HUGE MISTAKE comes back biting me HARD. People saying that oily skin will protect you from wrinkles. Well guess drying out my skin with tea tree oil counteracted that. Tiny wrinkle at an age of 23 already and it just get worse... man FML. Ah well no big deal just cure me from this acne already. I was really depressed around this moment of my life since i went to university and had to live away from my parents. Found some posts about using vitamin D to cure depression and it also helps to cure acne. Great, killing 2 birds with 1 stone. It had a little effect on my pimples. It was maybe reduced by 10-15%, but I took more interest in supplements. After that i tried omega 3 with no effect and zinc picolinate. Zinc was almost my cure to my acne. It reduced my acne by a lot but so now and then i get this deep underskin cyst that was just a huge blow to my skin and would cause this huge scar. This probably due to a terrible diet (zinc deficiency).

PS: Food not related to acne? Well if you are not prone to acne then you can eat whatever but eating junkfood 24/7 for 3 years does takes it toll.

Age 26-27

Finished the nightmare that was called university and back to a lifestyle where there is no stress and relatively healthy food. Still taking zinc supplements so now and then, since I saw a clear correlation with zinc and the amount of cysts I would get. The only thing bothering me a now are the scars. Been reading a lot of threads on how to get a perfect skin, but the methods aren't 100% cures (needling, laser, peeling). So 1 year ago I accepted it. I didn't want to go through the trial and error that would cost me a fortune. I'm quite happy with my current skin condition. I don't even wash my face for 3 days and if I do I wash it with water only (sometimes scrub) and put on some moisturizers.

In the end I am kind of mad at my younger self for using harsh and drying products. I have used tons of other products that I didn't list. The doctor/dermatologist for not suggesting zinc earlier instead of all the medicine that intoxicates the liver. And again at myself for going to the university that has caused me so much stress and scars.

I want to tell you people not to blindly follow the product suggestions that people make. Eating healthy does play a big role, check for certain deficiencies. Use a light and hydrating moisturizer after you wash your face (even with water), go find whatever product suits you (LOL product suggestion). Use sunscreen if you are on a certain skin thinning medication and if you recently had a pimple to reduce scarring. Don't worry too much and just accept it ;D
