I was thinking of adding a toner to clean my pores out after cleaning. As I don't have a lot of acne just a few on my cheeks in the form of black heads or hard congested balls under the skin.

My options was
1. Paul's choice salylic acid or
2. Witch hazel and Apple cider or
3. Olay toner

If I had a breakout I would do the BP

I use both a toner and an astringent to my routine. I use witch hazel and that works wonders on my skin esoecially after shaving my neck. I also use Aloe Vera gel. For a toner I use a salicylic acid pad toner. So I start off with washing my face then aloe...let that dry. Then use witch hazel. Let that dry. Then I use my toner. Let that dry..and then my tea tree oil. Sound like alot but it helps

Kaispeaks,
I use Thalgo toner for a while since they are suitable for sensitive skin prone to acne. I like the fragrance of vanilla and rose petals, but what is most important to me: they are free of animal derivatives, parabens and mineral oil. I suffer from rosacea so I must be very careful with my skin care regime. Many toners have irritated my skin and produced redness.

I have similar issues as yours. I have found that Witch Hazel works really well, but the alcohol content can make it drying, so I've begun experimenting with ways to dilute it. Aloe tends to work well...anything with salicylic acid or glycolic acid. I tried the apple cider vinegar...first couple days are okay, then it's just to harsh and you get more oil clogs/ rebound breakout (yes, I diluted a lot!) It's just not a decent long-term solution.

I use Clinique clarifying lotion 2 now and I love it! I bought it after some research mainly because they are allergy tasted and 100% fragrance free. I have very sensitive skin and I like to use only medicinal cosmetics. Have you tried this?

All the Clinique Toners used to work really well for me, but they have reformulated in the last few years...they aren't horrible, just don't work as well for me as they used to. I do still think they are some of the best available, however.
