Hi there, I don't really do things like this but it feels like this is my last shot.
I've had acne since I was 12, went to dermatologist, she recommended La Rosche Posay's Effaclar and Effaclar Duo which did wonders to my skin.
Since March my skin has been going crazy. It's pretty clear for a week and the next week I get a lot of tiny bumps around my entire face. As you can see on the photo, they are red and my skin feels like it's on fire. After 4 or 5 days of this my skin completely clears out for about a week and the whole process continues.
I went to multiple dermatologists with this problem, but they weren't too interested and said I sould be happy my skin doesn't look like this constatnly.
I don't have any allergies and always follow my skin care.
Does anyone know how I should treat this, or at least has any ideas what I should do?
Thank you so much
I know what you mean, my skin started doing the same thing. I would manage to get it going great for a week or two, then I would break out like crazy. Round and round...
I really suspected the biggest problem was that my skin was becoming "over-processed". Too many acne washes, treatments, toners....not only do they all contain ingredients that actually cause more acne, they result in over-exfoliated, vulnerable skin.
After another backlash of using harsh products, I decided to stop using all of those "acne" treatments, except for one blemish target gel. All the acne products out there are incredibly harsh. They are designed to achieve quick results, but not lasting ones.
I've been paying more attention to not over doing it and resisting the urge to overtreat my skin...3 weeks in and my skin has been steadily improving since day one.
Thank you so much for sharing this!
I don't really use much on my skin, as my dermatologist recommend- only Miccelar water to take my makeup off, face wash (sometimes I use Clarisonic, sometimes I don't- acne occurs either way) and after that a moisturizer.
Do you think I should start using skincare for sensitive skin rather than acne prone?
I've never had acne in cycles like you seem to have - mine was with me all the time (yay!) but I switched to sensitive skin skincare and I find out that it works much better for me then the acne prone skincare. Might be worth trying.
Do you feel the miccelar water removes your makeup fully? or do you see stains in your towel when you dry your face afterwards? It might not be the case for you but the miccelar water wasn't enough for me so I added a gentle cleanser as a second step and I saw improvement.
Have you thought of adding a product that fights acne? Nothing strong but maybe something natural or gentle?
