Hi everyone, I am a 26 years old male. I have been suffering from acne since early teen years, 15-16 years old. I have tried several medications, like oral antibiotics, Retin A cream, benzoyl peroxide, Suflur and Salicylic acid. such treatments specially Retin A are effective on my skin to some extent, like I get usually several pimples each month, but on Retin A only one or two appear. beside hating the fact how tedious it is to put all this stuff on my face and the need to go to doctor every now and then to get prescription, nothing troubles me, except that regardless whatever I use my face is always red!!!! The sides of my Jaw are white and my forehead, nose and cheeks are always red. there is a huge noticable contrast and it's ugly. My face isn't dry at all, it's actually very oily, but it's red all the time.
is there any way to reduce the reddness and if there is any treatments that doesn't make skin red. I told me doctor this and they never addressed that issue, they think it's trivial.
Hey valdievil, oral antibiotics will usually reduce redness associated with acne during their course of action but can't be used continuously and are often not a permanent solution. The approved topicals bp and salicylic acid do tend to create redness...for many people this subsides with continued use. My family have been using a product called epiology which doesn't seem to cause any redness and may have some effect of reducing redness. Hopefully you will get a bunch of ideas from the folks on the forums.
