I am a female, and I struggle with acne. Most of the stuff on my face is past and DEEP blemishes/scarring. Well, recently, I started the acne.org regimen. To be precise, I did so two days ago. Anyways, today I decided to remove my upper lip hair.

Let me explain two things. (1) I get most of my acne/scarring around my lips. Just do.

(2) Being half mexican, I have alot of facial hair. -.- thanks Mom. So I have struggled for years upon years to find a way to remove my upper lip hair without causing more acne or making it worse.

Well, today was a mistake. I put on some Sally Hanson cream to remove the hair. Not only did it not really work, which it usually does, but my upper lip is super swollen and irritated. Probably from my skin being so sensitive from the acne.org treatment???

Does anyone have any advice??? How I should still remove my upper lip hair without it being too irritating along with the regimen. I am so lost. - Frost

The best thing would really be laser hair removal. This is a god long term fix to provide you with permanent hair reduction over time. You can check out clinics near where you live and look them up on groupon or something. Most of the time they over very good deals.

Hey!

There are a lot of options for hair removal on the face that are safer than putting the cream on your face. I personally wouldn't use the cream anymore because it can be pretty reactive with acne causing the situation you just got into! And many other reasons. For sensitive skin with acne good hair removal options would be threading, sugaring or dermaplaning the face. Laser hair removal is a good option but can make darker skin types hyper pigment and scar so if you want to go that route I would set up a consultation with a clinic near you to see if you would be a good candidate. My favorite treatment is dermaplaning (you can find this at many medical spas). They remove the hair on your face with a scalpel and it gives your skin a nice glow and helps product penetrate deeper into the skin. I have a hairy face too and this treatment helps me for usually 4-6 weeks before I see any hair again. It doesn't hurt at all and leaves your skin smooth and nice after. For the irritation on your lip I would ice it for the remainder of the day on and off. Putting aloe on it would help as well and that should get the swelling down. Good luck!
