Hello,
My name is MK and I am new here. Recently, I have been doing a lot of research on treating my acne. I have had it for as long as I can remember. I have tried everything; there was even a time when i would RELIGIOUSLY follow the instructions on the Mary Kay bottle twice a day in an attempt to clear it up. The funny thing about mine is that it's ONLY on my chin. I have never had problems with my cheeks or my forehead. Last year (at 19) I took Minocycline for a while and added Epiduo and finally saw results. Now, I seem to have these permanent bumps all over my chin. Most of the time they're colorless and don't hurt but I'm self conscious because of the years with acne... if ANYONE has suggestions about how to get rid of it, i'm open to anything. I'm just ready for my turn to have smooth skin on my chin.
(my forehead and scalp are both peeling from an unrelated sunburn)
Thanks in advance!
Hi MK,
I have exactly the same type of acne on my chin. I have lots of tiny bumps under my chin which flare up (throbbing painincrease in size, turn red and fill up with pus) when I'm on my period or if I have dairy. I'm sure I have other food triggers but I haven't identified them yet.
Do you wear makeup? I do and I find makeup actually draws attention to my chin but I'm afraid not to wear it in case one off the bumps gets pus in it during the work day.
I think we've both got Hormonal acne. If you haven't already I recommend you cut dairy out of your diet and drink spearmint tea.
My acne has been depressing me lately so I have made a GP appointment for next week to get something to control my hormones- I'll let you know what they give me if you want.
Hey aside from the other suggestions, try natural toothpaste without bubbles or fluoride. Sometimes people get peri oral dermatitis from toothpaste, even after using it for years.
Spearmint tea is good, also try turmeric mask or aspirin mask

hey Im curious to know what they say too.
Please let me know what they say! However, I don't think it's hormonal. This is my face not broken out; those bumps have been there since my acne went away. Do you think they could pop?? I kind of thought they were weird scars.Thank you guys for all the helpful suggestions! I will definitely give cutting dairy a try!

if anything they look like the bumps sometimes left over after acne. Sometimes they last for a while...maybe try soaking your chin with a very warm rag a few times a day and see if anything changes.
Or maybe try lemon or potato juice.
Hi,
forgot to to mention this earlier but you should try an oatmeal mask. You just get some plain oats and mix it with warm water until it turns into a paste then apply it to your face. It calms the redness and shrinks some of the spots, but test a small area first in case you have a bad reaction.

yeah I've been doing it lately and I really like it! If you gave what allergies be careful though cause wheat/ gluten is often in oatmeal.

Went to the GP and she prescribed me Yasmin and Duac. I'm scared to use Yasmin as I've read some bad reviews on this board but I'll give it ago.
So far I've used duac for a week or so and its been fine. Just remember to use moisturiser and don't use a lot at first.
I've used Yaz in the past with good results...Yasmine e has more estrogen I believe. Just give bit at least 3 months to see skin improvement. I've been lucky not to have any bad side effects from it. I actually feel worse when I'm not on bhirth control.
I've actually decided not to use Yasmin there's a lot of negative reviews and quite recent lawsuits against the company. I've also read that once you stop using it your acne comes back and it gives you more cystic acne.
Personally I think there's too much risk with oral antibiotics and contraception. I'm happy to use topical medication so I going to use duac and try to find natural ways to improve my acne.

if it interests you, taking 2-3 cups of spearmint t tea ( or 2 tablets) daily is a safe way to lower your oil production. And turmeric and inositol tablets are safe too. I'm doing well on duac so far, just use a moisturizer too.
I respect your decision to research the heck out of something before you make your decision :). More people should.
