Hello. I jut came from my dermatologist and I was there because I wanted to get roaccutane/isotretionin.
At the moment my acne is 100% gone because of Benzoyl Peroxide, but without benzoyl peroxide I get cystic acne which leads to scarring, I have a lot of scars from when I did not use Benzoyl Peroxide, but im getting really itchy spots that are getting rash on them. I told this to my dermatologist and asked if I could get Isotretionin and he told me to stop using Benzoyl Peroxide and get acne so he could look at it. Is this standard practice? A dermatologist that tells me to stop treatment and get acne that can potentially scar me for life, isnt that a bit weird?
Sorry if im coming off as ungrateful that I dont have serious acne, but I need to know what is right in this case.
Um that sounds weird but who knows? Most doctors I've met are not nearly as smart as they think they are. I've had a gyno dismiss my suspicions of PCOS because I , quote," don't look like a bearded fat lady".
Try some other term if you're not happy. Or tell him what you want in no uncertain terms. You are the boss, you're paying.
Well, you have to understand that Accutane is not something that dermatologists like to give unless there are no other options. Ten years ago, when I went on Accutane, they would not give you Accutane unless your skin was VERY severe. He has to make sure you are not exaggerating how bad your acne is before he puts you on a drug that can cause a lot of PERMANENTdamage to your body. I see a lot of people on here with a mild breakout calling their skin severe, so more than likely he is just trying to make sure you qualify for it.Do you have any pictures of when you have had breakouts? I used to take pictures of when my skin was especially bad and bring them in with me to my appointments.
