Please help me with suggestions- I sometimes get small little bumps/pimples on my biceps/shoulder area. I can literally scratch them off ( and I usually carefully do), but one was a little deeper and I thought I had gotten rid of it and over time it went deeper- it became more noticeable and my husband messed with it and it got a bad scab. Somehow over time after messing and messing with it it seems to have developed scar tissue over it and now it appears as this permanent mole bump- but it isn't. It feels very hard and is noticeable but with no head on it. Do I need to have it cut into to get it off/out??? It's very unattractive now!! Please help!!

Leave it alone. Seriously, don't pick on it. It'll just get more inflamed and look even worse.

Most of the time, things like these go away on their own.

But it's not inflamed or anything- it's been left alone for like a year now and it's just Chillen there and I hate the way it looks on my arm....people always notice it.

to see a dermatologist means I would need a federal to one because it's a specialist. To get that federal I need an appointment with my primary care who is usually booked a month out. Even if I book that one and go to it, and then convince my very stubborn 82 year old doctor to write the referral....it usually takes his office two weeks to generate it, then the state piece of crap medical insurance has a 90 grace period/ window of time in which they are allowed to use to process said referral. Then I have to wait for my copy of the approval to come in the mail and then make sure the office it is referring me to has a copy in their hand or they won't even talk to me, (which in my case with my daughter who has 9 specialists for a rare disease- they never have it in hand or in their office- so I have to fax it myself). Then once ALL of that is done they schedule me for one to three months out for an appointment. So to "just ask a dermatologist..." Would probably take about 6 mos to do, so I figured "hey, what the hell! I will ask some people online and see if there's any advice they have to offer...". But I will get right on top of that process. Thank you for the insight.

It sounds like a cyst. Have you ever watched Dr Pimple Popper on YouTube? She usually excises them. :) If I were you, I'd take the plunge and try to get the referral. Yes, it will take a while, but if it's been there for that long it won't go away on its own. I understand how much of a pain in the ass Derm appointments are to get, but if you don't go, it'll only get worse.
