Hi guys,
im 19 and for the past few years I've had mild acne. Yet since August it's worsened to cystic acne. At the moment I have quite a lot of hyperpigmentation, as well as mild cysts on my cheeks and jawline especially.
I've been on differin and lymecycline for 1 week, and I can already feel an IB. All the small cysts and blind pimples on my cheeks are slowly brewing which I am dreading.
In 2 months times I'm going to Asia for 3 months. And I've heard after 2 months on differin you should still be in the IB phase.
So im tempted to stop differin altogether, and just complete the lymecycline course.
Could somebody please tell me if this a good idea? I just want to be as clear as possible when I leave to Asia, and differin may just make it worse.
Thank you for any help, much appreciated x
There's basically no way to tell, if you read the reviews on the internet there people saying anywhere from a few weeks (they probably only have very mild acne though) to 8 months in some cases.
Essentially though, I can say that the worse your acne is, it will take longer to work. So you can make that assumption yourself. It's basically just chance.
I'm on differin now too, it appears that by week 8 for MOST cases you should be seeing improvement. I seem to be playing by those cards as at this point (7 weeks for me) my acne is probably overall 15% better than pre-differin. But I did have one hell of an IB.
The good thing is that if you decide to do the differin before asia, while two months may not be enough for much improvement, by then you should be over the flaky stage so it should be managable to keep up using the cream while you are away. Also, how long is your antibiotic course? The anti biotics are there to help with the IB, if you take them now and hold off the differin, you may be left with no second weapon when you start the differin.
