I suffer from mild to moderate general acne as well as an increasing frequency of cystic acne. I have been getting "puffy" inflammation around acne more frequently recently. Today I woke up and had no sign of anything this morning. 6 hours later I notice I have a large puffy spot about the size of a dime on my upper chin/lower lip. It does have what feels like a small core, but all the puffy area is soft. If I didn't see it in a mirror I wouldn't even know it was inflamed like that. Any advice or insight into these? They are impossible to conceal because of the lighting creating shadows. I have a feeling this will turn into a small cyst since that "normal" sized core isn't visible, I can only feel it in the middle of the puffed up skin.
LONG BACKGROUND OF ENTIRE PROBLEM: I am a 31 year old male and had moderate to severe puberty acne followed by a significant decline (to the level of normal to light acne) in my mid 20's. Over my late 20's to today I have had a significant increase in deep acne to cystic acne around my chin and lips. I have tried various topical methods (BP, SA, tea tree oil), modified my diet (cut my sugar in half to a little over the recommended adult intake) and have seen no improvement with the deep acne (it is continuing to get more frequent). I do take xanax and now theorize this is the cause MERELY because the timelines match up perfectly (I started taking it in my late 20's and became more reliant on it up through this year when I am now seeing the worst deep acne I have since puberty). I have recently significantly reduced my xanax intake but realize IF there is a connection, it will likely take a while for my body to adjust.
