Makeup Advice For A Guy!

Hey guys!

So I have a bit of a problem and would really love some advice ASAP :D

Basically I am filming for a television show, which is fantastic and so exciting...but there's only one problem -- the makeup is EXTREMELY heavy. It's literally like layers of blue, green and black spray-on makeup. I've just come off of accutane so my skin is VERY sensitive and red, literally just touching it can make it red for hours, so as soon as I saw all of this go on my face my anxiety hit the roof... and rightfully so -- it was so heavy I literally had to not only SCRUB with face wipes, but I also had to wash my face three times with cetaphil (which, although being gentle, 3 times is clearly not good...)

But even this didn't help! That night every pore looked blue, and my face was RED. It was so painful...it looked and felt like I was burnt.

I literally spent the whole night crying. After finishing accutane the last thing I wanted was to break out again. Thankfully the next day my skin had calmed down and, despite a few closed comedones, I was clear. However, tomorrow I am filming again and will have the same makeup on... I'm terrified.

Is there any advice out there considering I have no idea with how to succesfully prepare and remove makeup. I didn't use a primer last time, so should I apply a primer before I go into makeup? Will a primer make it easier to remove and create a protective layer for my face? I have bare minerals primer (I have used the makeup before with no problem or breakouts). Also, how can I succesfully get rid of the makeup afterwards without being beet-red and in pain, but to get it all off without fearing a massive breakout?

Thanks so much!

Give jojoba oil a try. I use it to remove heavy face makeup. I use a cotton round and just put some jojoba oil on it and wipe but in your case I think you can benefit by letting it sit on your face to help breakdown the make-up so you don't have to scrub your face so hard.

Oh i'll look into it. I'm a bit wary of leaving oil on my face, however? But thank you!

Try the johnsons wipes. They are quite oily but will definitely help to remove your stage make up. Then follow by using a cotton pad with Micella water (from simple) or Micella wipes from Barbara Daily. Both are available from super drug. I use both. Micella water works a bit like toner but nowhere near as drying. And apparently there's no need to rinse afterwards... (Debatable) but it's always best to rinse with water after cleansing. And most importantly... Moisturise! I'm aware this post is almost a week old but maybe it'll help with future productions. Best of luck in your career :)
