Overactive 'Mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1' (mTORC1) or inactive 'Forkhead box protein O1' (FOXO1) is the root cause of several types of cancer, PCOS, neurological diseases, obesity, diabetes, cardiac diseases, seborrheic dermatitis and acne, according to a LOT of research.

Inflammation is controlled by cholesterol, and cholesterol is controlled by PPARs and CREB, and PPARs and CREB is controlled by.. Yes.. The 'Mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1'
And yes "it is in the food". And yes you can fix it with diet.

(By the way with 'we' I mean you. I did fixe acne with 2 months paleo.)

A couple of weeks ago I founds this article in german written by Prof. Bodo Melnik, he is behind several of the research studies I linked. Now I can't find the article, but I did a translation, and I have it on my pc, so I will write here what he think we should eat. But unfortunately I cannot link the original article.

 

Avoid foods with acne-inducing effect:

Milk, milk products, whey, cream cheese, whey protein concentrates, milk chocolate, candy, potato chips, cornflakes and other carbohydrates with high glycemic index such as white bread, rice, potatoes, wheat noodles, fast food. Also avoid saturated fats and fats with high proportion of n-6 fatty acids, especially arachidonic acid, in lard, pork liver, liver sausage, egg yolks. Avoid smoking. Avoid frequent snacking and eating snacks. Avoid sweetened soft drinks such as cola drinks and soda. Avoid lack of exercise and overweight.

 

Do the following: Eat raw vegestables, fruit, blue berries and tomatoes (Esney: I think fruit and berries should be limited, but not excluded, because of the fructose content )

Eat wholemeal bread, plenty of fiber, high fiber, own cooking, fresh vegetables, frequent consumption of sea fish (tuna, salmon, herring, mackerel) or other foods with high content of anti-inflammatory n-3 fatty acids (Esney: n-3 can raise dihydrotestosterone(DHT), and induce more acne right now, but in the long run n-3 is great)

Multi hour pause between food intake is recommended.

Drink mineral water, unsweetened black tea, preferable green tea(Esney: Green tea can also induce acne in the beginning from elevated DHT)

Sporting activity and ideal body weight is recommended.

I know I cleared my severe cystic acne through my own diet by discovering my food sensitivities.

Yes, I would say 80-90% clear over 2 months time. The last 10-20% cleared over the following 6 months. I haven't seen a single pimple in weeks.

I feel like everything gives you acne, literally.

 

From eating dairy to drinking tap water. You can never win!

Tap water will not give you acne :D dairy will with elevated IGF-1 and cell proliferation.
