Hi,

I just had steroid/cortisone injections in three small inflamed spots on my face yesterday, performed by my dermatologist. I believe he used 1cc (amount).

Looking around the internet today, I've seen a number of people having dents show up after these injections - I am now very worried... How common is this? Do the dents go away?

The dents are relatively uncommon. It depends on the amount (you got a relatively small amount), the expertise of the injector (a dermatologist is usually practiced in performing these injections) and the area the injections are placed in. Additionally, the more often you get the injections, the more likely denting will become.

That being said, the denting caused by these injections are completely temporary in almost every case. I myself have had about 10 injections on various parts of my face. The largest nodule did become indented, which lasted for about 3 months. It looked like a small dimple, noticeable only when I smiled, and mostly noticeable only by me. It has since filled in completely with no lasting issues. I believe most of the nodules I've had injected would have scarred quite seriously without the cortisone, so the risk of dent was a considerably better option (since scarring is permanent).

So in summary, I really wouldn't be too worried.
