Confused About My Acne

Hello!

I have had acne for about 3 years now, since I started college, and I can not figure out what is causing it. I do have hypothyroidism, and my skin tends to be very oily all over my face. My problem is mainly my cheeks. I do occasionally get breakouts on my forehead but that is usually only in the summer time and they are very small and only on the surface so they don't bother me, and are an easy fix. But the ones on my cheeks are cystic, they hurt, take forever to go away, and then leave hyperpigmentation that stays for months. I have a dermatologist and she has put me on a regimen of Ziana at night and Acanya in the morning which works great. However, even though this seems to be working, I do still get one or two pimples on my cheeks, all the time. Once one goes away another pops up. I feel like I will never have clear skin again. I have tried the whole avoiding dairy thing and carbs etc. but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I also take vitamins every day, change my towels everyday, I try not to touch my cheeks (I don't pick at my acne), I wash my face right after I exercise in the morning, I eat a healthy diet and always have, I try not to wear makeup and if I do it is non comedogenic, yad yad. Basically I have tried to follow everything in the book but I am still breaking out.

I am tired of not knowing what is at the root of my problem! Or am I just being a baby about this? lol If any of you have any ideas or are in the same boat as me it would be extremely helpful to hear from you! Thank you! :)

We have similar acne types. Take a look at my blog post (I have my regime there).

We all have different skin so it's hard to say what will work , I have very dry skin , which people say to get rid of acne you need to dry out your skin . NO , because these dead skins cells also clog your pours the same way oils do . So here's a few things that will help for any type of skin especially mine ! So you've just had a huge breakout an you either decide to pop them or leave them , this breakout then subsides after a while but during the breakout get in the sun for 20 mins drink water and eat healthy and put honey on as an overnight mask. You may then experience being left with a few marks so I now say time for the vasiline ' yes vasiline is greasy but there's good oils and bad oils under your skin and vasiline is a good oil which will help fight those bad ones causing spots so don't worry about pours getting clogged leave this on underneath honey overnight you won't need to wash it of in the morning as it will sink into your skin overnight . This is a good thing as honey is an antibacterial so if it sinks in it can then kill germs causing acne so using this mask long term could cure acne . I hope this helped

I ale 50mg spironolactone and use the Tactupump for my adult acne. Testosterone at the hair follicle gets changed by spiro - so the pore doesn't produce as much oil.
