Hello everyone!
I am new to this website and I decided to start a topic of my own because I noticed there is not a similar one to mine.
I am 20 years old and I study abroad in China.Since April my skin broke out horribly!Maybe its due to going off birth control pills or stress I really don't know. Also, the weather where I am right now is very humid and hot.Anyway, last year I had the same problem at the same time,I went to a dermatologist here and was pretty scared because I didn't know what to expect from a visit to a Chinese dermatologist. She saw me and prescribed me Accutane, really fast and easy. After about 2 months I was clear and she told me to drink it for at least 2 months and a half.So I did ..and I was clear half a year. Now that it is back,I am on Accutane again and it has been a month already. The doctor here prescribed to me 20mg the first week,10 mg the next two weeks and now I am on 20mg for another two weeks...I am not happy at all,I guess I am having some initial break out because whiteheads are everythere! My skin is dry and my lips...its hard to smile.Anyways through my last year course of Accutane here in China they never moved my dose up.I was clear on 20mg for two and a half months at the end.But it all came back!I am really worried for this time..I don't know if I will clear again and when..I am 165 and 44kg so 20mg is okay for me,I think.Chinese doctors here never give you more then 20mg because they are very scared for your overal health. It was hard to make him give me 20mg even!He wanted me to stay on 10mg even tho my acne is terrible and persistent.Small red pimples and blackheads all over my cheeks and chin.
If anyone is from Asia or can give me some kind of advice please comment on my topic.
Excuse me for my bad English,I am not a nativ speaker.
Hmm..
I'm not sure about Accutane in China.
BUT... you gotta make sure you're eating as healthy as possible, especially in China. There are TONS of soy sauce that is made from things like corn starch, sugar, tapioca starch, etc etc. all the things that are not good for you.
And don't eat the "American" foods like "Sweet & Sour Pork, Deep Fried Chicken" and try to stay away from fried rice (China does not believe in healthy oils. They will drench your fried rice in vegetable oil - I guarantee. Coconut Oil, Virgin Olive Oil is almost nonexistent there. And stay from bread... bread seems like a very stable part in China, especially when it comes to Dim Sum. Dim Sum is honestly so bad for you, it's filled with gluten, soy, meat (not that meat is bad, but excessive is too much) OH AND STAY FROM SHRIMP. PLEASEEE STAY FROM SHRIMP, it is a VERY VERY common food that causes inflammed whiteheads and pimples.
But ya, sorry I gave you dietary concerns, I know that's probably not what you were looking for. But if you hadn't known the information already, I hope I gave you useful information.

I am vary thankful for your advice dear!
Anyways I am almost a vegeterian since here.I never eat fast food and I don't eat fried at all (I have never liked fried stuff anyways),My diet is absolutely junk food free. Also, for sure what I eat has nothing to do with my acne flare up.I eat the same things from August to March here and I am completely spot free.Ever since spring came tho it got horrible. From absolutely spotless face to acne everywhere.I mentioned I have a bit of a problem with my hormones and I got very stressed over that the same time my acne came.So I am on birth control pills again, since my period is irregular without them and I hope that also helps with my pimples.
Today I went to the dermatologist again ( he makes me go every week for a check up and new pills). He got scared of how dry lips are and my face is so red so he instantly suggested we lower the dose from 20mg to 10mg.But I told him I want to continue on 20mg and he gave me the pills...although he was not very happy I am not listening to him.The thing is,I still get whiteheads and I think 20mg is ok ...at least till the whiteheads stop I don't know. There is some improvement but it is minor (already one month).I hope everything will be okay.
Aww.
Ya that really sucks. For people that can control their acne with diet, they're pretty lucky.
But for people like us who can have some acne under control by diet, and than have that other portion that is uncontrollable... Really sucks :/
Anyways, best of luck with your treatments! Keep us updated!

Hey guys!
I am going to do an update. It has been almost 3 weeks since my last post and I am back to my country now for the holiday.
I am very happy with my skin right now and my dose has been lowered to 10mg every day.I started to use some topicals with salicylic acid, resorcinol and zink.It really helps whiten the skin and the red hyperpigmentation.I still break out on my chin and my skin and mouth are dry as hell.
Anyway,I also did a little tanning under the sun the other day.Didn't burn or anything, got a slight tan.I am planning to go swim and tan this Sunday as well and end of the month I am going to the seaside.I really don't care I am taking accutane lol I wanna tan so bad
That's it so far~
Wish everyone good luck with their journey!
