Sometimes your skin produces excess oil when it is too dry. Are you moisturizing daily? If not, then maybe try doing that and see if your skin gets less oily.
Also, has anything in your diet or life (e.g. stress) changed drastically that could perhaps account for the excess oil?

The idea that your skin will produce more oil as a result of being dry has never been proven by any study but I do believe it is always a good idea to keep your skin balanced, remove excess oil without leaving your skin too dry. All of the science points too oil production being solely controlled by your hormones and your skins reaction to these hormones. If you are female there are drugs that you can get from your doctor that can help control your hormones and hopefully reduce oil production.
