Hey everyone, so I'm 16 now and I've been struggling with acne for about 3-4 years now and it's constantly been my #1 concern and worry. The thing that impacts me the most is having acne, it impacts everything from my social life to getting good grades in school to competing in sports to having a love life and everything in between. It puts a huge dent in my shaky confidence and always makes me hate myself and feel in a state of constant depression. I always thought that if I could have just one wish I would wish for clear skin just like all of my other friends. Throughout the past few years I've tried everything from water based cleansers, to salicylic acid, to BP, tea tree oil, all natural and home remedies, a change of diet and lifestyle, change in brands, and even now I'm on doxycycline. Nothing has worked for more than 2 days max, it always comes back really quickly and is slowly getting worse and worse every day. It used to just be a few here and there, around my forehead mostly. Now within the past year its gotten worse and has moved to my cheeks, I usually have at least 4+ active pimples at all times and now that the warm weather is here I'm really stressed out and trying to find a way to get rid of my acne, so I can enjoy going outside without always feeling constantly worried and stressed out. Here are some pictures, and if anyone has any advice for me on what to do it would strongly be appreciated, sorry for the long read, and THANK YOU!

Have you tried the regimen from this site? The way they suggest to use BP actually works and did work for me after 4 months use but i had to stop due to eczema. Some people also suggest doing an elimination diet or a food allergy test to see what your body is sensitive to.

You're still in your teenage phase so its not unusual to have acne like yours. Get off the antibiotics as they are bad for your general health. Have you tried a retinoid?

There are options out there but its a very tedious trial and error process

I agree with leelowe that you should consider trying the regimen. Or at least try regular daily use of BP. My son likes LaRoche Posay Effaclar Duo and he's 17. The thing that makes the most difference for him though is diet. I know it's hard to eat well when you're a teenager, but try to cut out high sugars/carbs, possibly dairy too. If my son eats a pretty clean diet his skin looks good. When he eats a lot of candy, pizza, etc. he is guaranteed to break out in 3-4 new pimples. It really makes a big difference.

I've tried several different brands of BP in the past and none have done anything for me (if anything it just made things worse) so now I just tend to avoid any form of it. But the longest I've ever stuck with it was just over a month, do you guys think that's long enough to notice results, or should I give BP another shot for a longer amount of continuous time? And I've cut dairy out of my diet mostly, but I do consume A LOT of carbs in the day so I'll try to cut back on those too. I'll also see about giving retinoids a shot, THANKS GUYS!

Perhaps talk to your derm about Accutane

Have you tried no dairy & low gi foods only?

If you really have tried everything maybe accutane is the next option. Although I strongly recommend trying to treat naturally before going onto this strong drug.

I've mainly cut dairy out of my life, I only ever consume tiny amounts of it here and there, but cutting out dairy barely helped in my case, nothing too noticeable changed about my acne after cutting it out. And I was thinking about asking my derm about Accutane, but to me that will be the final plan if nothing else works out for me
