Has Anyone Experienced A Major Improvement While On Holiday?

Hey!

I've been struggling with acne for more than 10 years. Dan's regimen did work for me, but its side effects (mainly bleaching of the fabric) and some other factors made me look for other options. I don't know if this is related, but about a year or so after starting on BP I developed hives on my body and some on my face.

Right now I'm on a no wheat, no dairy diet and I'm also doing the caveman regimen. I've been dairy free for about 6 months and had no cystic breakouts until recently I got two huge ones on my cheek, which made me question the part of dairy in it.

There's an extremely interesting trend emerging, however. Whenever I go away on holiday my hives completely disappear after about a week and my acne dramatically improves. By the end of week 2 of my vacation I only have whiteheads, albeit plentiful. While on holiday I use no products and don't care how I look.

Has anyone else experienced that? Can our acne persist only because we keep *treating* it and always reminding ourselves how spotty we are, a.k.a. stress?

Has anyone tried just giving up and not caring about it all anymore instead of desperately trying to find the cure?

I think this is a common matter for everyone while there on holiday. Combination of the sun and the sea. I too suffer from bad cysts but it has calmed down a lot since going gluten free. I still get the odd couple so might try eliminating dairy again.

My skin always looks so much better while on holiday I reckon its more so from the sea than the sun. You tried sea salt baths? You should give them a go and see how you get on. Where is your cystic acne located?

My cysts used to be all over my jawline and cheeks. Now I've got 1 on my right cheek and 1 on my jawline right under it.

This is the first time I've heard about using salt baths to treat acne. I'll probably give it a try if the caveman regimen and the diet don't work (so far I'm on week 2 and my acne has been getting worse).

For me the intersting thing is that when you live your "normal" life and do everything right, you still break out, whereas when you take a vacation, don't use any meds and eat like crap your face clears up. That makes me wonder whether the emotional component might actually outweigh the physical. Maybe we keep perpetuating the problem by constantly focusing on it.

My older brother also had acne up until he was in his early twenties (it runs on my father's side). He never did anything to treat it and didn't really care. Even though he didn't use anything, it never got severe for him. He's been clear for years with no scarring whatsoever.

Yer don't expect the salt baths to cure your cystic acne as that is asking a bit too much your better off sticking with your diet like you say but its awesome for general skin health. Great natural exfoliator and leaves your skin really smooth so its worth a shot.

I think what your saying about emotional over physical goes back to the whole question of 'is acne related to stress?' who knows. Just got to keep trying but yer its a shame that other people can trial through it without a phase in the world then others are just stuck in a vicious circle.

I have my fingers crossed for you either way. Let us know how it goes. :)

Hi! I have had the exact same experience when i went on holiday. I took my regimen kit with me but i didn't use it at all. My face completley cleared up even the hyperpigmentations! However once i got back to England i felt i had to use the Regimen so I did, however i feel itchy on my face and i have red blotches. That is probably because im using the regimen after a whole month! i'm not sure, i will have to email the advisers.
