I had acne on my face, back, and chest, but my skin is now acne free. I just have hyperpigmentation marks,

no scarring fortunately. I have a dermatologist appointment this month. Do you think my dermatologist will put me on Retin A to clear up my skin? My hyperpigmentation marks on my face are fading, but slowly.

Retin-A would be a possibility as would adapalene (Differin).

You could also try AHA?

It does depend on the doctor but the most common first things doctors try in my experience is a retinoid cream (differin, retin a, tazorac etc.) and an antibiotic pill probably doxycycline. Sometimes they will replace the doxycycline with an antibiotic cream like benzaclin or benzamycin but they often don't like to have you start with 2 creams at once because of the increased chance of irritation. Ask LOTS of questions and make him/her give you detailed info about each priscription, exactly how to use it, what to expect, timelines etc. Some doctors are on such a routine they just write something up and say take this but don't let them get away that easy, get all your questions answered.
