Mixing Acne Treatments Have Repercussions?

G,day

I have had various forms of acne for about 6 or 7 years including 2 of those with bad cystic acne, i am currently on the cusp of dealing this final blow to all this acne, but this seems to be the hardest part!

Through experimenting and taking mental notes of what works i have found that benzyl peroxide is the only substance thus far including organic treatments that will keep the acne at bay, this also includes those really annoying little white heads that pop up over night / day. This is all well and good however,

Benzyl peroxide keeps my face red where the old acne has last resided, for months - indefinitely and just wont go away even though the ance itself does not return.

On the flip side i can use organic treatments which will slowly rid the redness however the small white heads will come back constantly every night so is in essence counter productive as im always trying to heal the redness that those little patches come back at.

Is it possible to use a benzyl peroxide wash in the shower at night then apply a natural treatment (or both creams after shower) with all the good stuff to rid the redness or will such regimes conflict and cause inflamation?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Ahh the old trade off between redness and new breakouts; I now exactly what you mean. It can be frustrating having persistent redness from BP, however just keep in mind that this is helping you prevent new breakouts and hence new red marks in the future. I would recommend slowly reducing the amount of BP over a period of time where you are still responding however reducing the BP used. Also with regards to the organic products just make sure they are non comedogenic in order o prevent new breakouts.

All the best

Thanks for the advice!, does this mean it should be ok to mix both creams or use both at the same time in smaller amounts?
Just mixing different substances doesn't seem the best, but if it will work then i will try it.

BP needs to be used on its own and absorbed by the skin in order to kill acne causing bacteria, mixing any other products with BP will prevent full effectiveness. I would take a look at the regime steps and use some of the methods but incorporate your organic products (if the work for you). However, unfortunately you have to just see for yourself whether it will work for you.
