Red Marks

Hi! I have had acne since 2 years ago, there are moments when my acne is totally under control and not so bad and there are moments when it seems really bad.

In the summer I tend to have a good skin, no pimples and my red marks from old acne are really small. However, every time the winter starts, my acne starts too. My red marks start becoming redder and redder and new pimples come out.

In my acne story I have used EVERYTHING. The main products are basically Benzoyl peroxide (in the last years 10% and 5%) , topical isotretinoin and topical tretinoin.

However, in October when my acne came back, I decided to follow The Regimen (or something similar)

Mornings:

Gentle Cleanser

Benzoyl Peroxide 3% (In Italy 2.5% doesn't exsist)

Moistruizer

Nights:

Gentle Cleanser

Benzoyl peroxide 3%

1/2 Moistruizer and 1/2 mostruizer with AHAs

My main problem isn't the active acne (inflamed pimples) because my skin is almost totally flat. I just have A LOT of RED MARKS that makes my face seem worse than what it really is.

How can I do to make these red marks fade?

I'm feeling hopeless!

Hi - congrats on getting clear! The red marks are a bummer - and unfortunately, there is just not a whole lot you can do to speed up the healing process, you just have to be patient and give it time, they will eventually fade (as long as you can maintain clarity). Wearing sunscreen will definitely help, as sun exposure can prolong the process.

I had a MAJOR red mark issue after clearing my acne. If it is really bad enough, and you have the money, vbeam perfecta treatments work like magic. About a month after each treatment you will see them fade gradually each day. I cant say enough about how well it works.

A cheaper option I would recommend is a combination of retin-a and a hydroquinone cream. You will need a prescription from a derm for the retin-a, but it works fairly well. It can be expensive without insurance, but I get a generic tube that costs $8 and lasts me 2 months of every day use. I will link you to the hydroquinone cream I use below. Also be sure to use sun screen, or the sun will make the marks darker and prevent them from healing.

There is also an ambi fade cream for oily skin types, but the one in the link is the one I use and would recommend. It also has zinc oxide which will protect you from the sun without the chemicals of a typical spf sunscreen.

Yes red marks are a pain & take ages to clear but way better then having spots. Exfoliating & a moisturizer high in vitamin e should help.

I would say cheat and cover it up a bit with a mineral foundation. Not the most masculine thing in the world but it will boost your confidence.
