Dermatologist Won't Let Me Take Accutane?! Feeling Suicidal

I went to see a specialist and waited 5 months for the appointment! I have been a social recluse and really getting down and feeling depressed with his bad my acne is. I split with my gf because I kept staying in my room alone and didn't want her to see me while I looked so bad.

I have been on accutane 2 years ago... I was clear for a year, then acne came back... Bad

The dermatologist told me I don't have conventional acne, I get my pimples from hair follicles and shaving. So I can not use accutane again. Or anything for that matter. He told me I have nothing to worry about?!! How?! My face is full of pumpLes. So he sent me away with no treatment.

However I don't agree it's caused by hair and shaving especially. I tried not shaving for a month, no improvement at all. I'm not sure what to do.. I can't go on like this, Irbs making me so depressed Iv felt suicidal, I lost my friends and gf as I dont go out. I really am close to suicidal! I need help/advice. If I can't take accutane do I have to accept I'll have acne this bad for years? If so i genuinely think I'd rather not live. (No exaggeration) I can't go out and I feel worthless.

I know accutane side effects involve suicidal thoughts etc. but my depression is 100% acne related. I took accutane before and never enjoyed life as much being acne free.

accutane is dangerous (trust i know ...i still suffer scalp falcking 2months after i stopped it)

if ur doctor says its due to shaving ...u can try and shave with a good electric shavor or single blade razor(use it once then buy a new one)

if that doesnt help ;;;;you can try cleaning your diet ....that helps me a lot

but if nothing works ....and you're okay with gambeling with your health and risk many side effects ...you can go visit another doctor and get accutane

i know how depressing acne can be .....i been in ur position many times a go ...and maybe again in the future ...but if your gf

really likes yo fo who you are ...then you shouldnt have broke up with her ...some people do not care about how you look especially if they know you for a long time ....the same thing for your friends

visit a different doctor and ask for it

and if accutane worked , you need to tell them it worked for you and u want it again

you should know your body so if shaving isnt causing the problem tell them speak up

You have Acne, Acne doesn't have you.

We need more Info/pics to really diagnose your acne, I'm not sure the specifics but there is plenty you can do without prescriptions to treat acne.

Clearing up your diet, will help acne. Try going Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Low sugar intake for 2 weeks. You are guaranteed to see some improvement (for some people 100% within a month or two).

Also, you can go to a different dermatologist if you want, they are all different and have different treatment plans. If you went to one and asked for Acctunane, most likely they will give you the script. However if you only have Moderate Acne it might be a better idea to do a Oral Antibiotic (such as Minocylcline), and a Topical Antibiotic (such as Clyndmycin/BP).

Finally, if it bothers you as much as it used to bother me, put a little makeup on and hide the shit :) Nothing wrong with wearing a little Urban Camouflage. Dermablend Cover Creame and Setting Powder did wonders for me, its light (won't clog pores) and if it increased your self esteem then it will increase your quality of life. Then by all means just go down to Macys (or store alike), tell the clerks you wanna get color matched, they will hook you up!

Try and remember, YOU have Acne, Acne does not have you.

Peace brother. Hope something I said helps. I still struggle with Acne, I'm right here with you man!

I tried different razors, I tried not shaving, iv been on all te other medications doctors can prescribe and therefore got referred to dermatologist on the NHS who pretty much told me to go away as I didn't have 'conventional oily skin acne' and was very rude.

I'm thinking of paying to go private hospital. Anyone Got experience going private? Are they more helpful and willing to give you the medication you want?
