Going Off Accutane Early? Scared Of Side Effects.

I really want to do this naturally. Damn it! I don't want to be dependent on drugs my whole life. I know I might be 'cured' right? But is anyone really 'cured' from what I read a LOT of people relapse months, sometimes days after they get off it. What is the point?

I'm taking 20 mg/ a day. I know maybe it isn't enough. I mean it has cleared me. I'm in month five. But I'm scared it'll come back and I will have done all of this for nothing.

My face looks awful, it is so red and the marks are really prominent. Also, I started developing dry eyes a week back and I am scared it'll be permanent.

Has anyone gone off it early? What happened?

Please some advice.

It's a risk you have to consider. Permanent side effects are very, very rare, unless you go into accutane with nutritional imbalances (like low vitamin D). No one can tell you that the dry eyes will 100% not be permanent. But from all of the anecdotes I've seen, it basically always reverts within a month after being off treatment. So will the red skin.

If I were in your position, I would push through. The length of treatment is more important than the dosage, and if you were going to get any permanent side effects, you would have gotten them by now. One more month, hell, three more months, are very unlikely to cause any more harm.

Hi, yeah I would push through but I'm only on 20 mg and so my treatment is over 9 months, so more than 4 months left. I'm in Europe so this is allowed here. I am meeting up with another derm to see what they have to say.

I will stay on it for a bit longer though, does anyone know if going off how soon it will come back? I stopped for just two days and I got 2 inflamed spots but with no actual acne in it, they went down in a day, really odd. Is it because I didn't take it, and that is what will happen if I just quit now?

hey ...i stopped accutane early myself

i was on 10 mg for 2 months and 20 mg for 2 other months ....then i noticed some bald patches in beard (maybe because i washed my face a lot and didnt used a moistriser while on accutane) ....so i stopped ...i noticed before i stopped by a week ...having dry scalp and it get flacky ...like i have dandruff or something (its bad)

now it been almost two months off accutane ...my dry face is gone ...the dry flacky sclap is still present (damn) ...i hope it goes too cause its really annoying ..having to get it out of my hair everyday

as in for acne ....i was clear for a month later ...then i had a breakout ...so i eliminated gluten and sugar and cleaned my diet ...and now i still do breakout ...but its mostly small whiteheads in my T zone (because of oil)

so my opinion about accutane ...is ...it does work like a charm ...but can cause big problems ....so i only advise it if you try everything and if your acne is really really bad but even then you should carefull while on it

BTW ....you're Hot

Permanent side effects are extremely rare, but i won't lie.. you have that %0,50 chances of getting any of them. Serious ones or not.

What won't help is to read shitty Internet histories about Accutane side effects on the internet. That's literally the worst thing you can do while taking Accutane. While some of them can be completely real and i fell sorry for those who are suffering perm side effects, most of them are lies,or caused by another previous health conditions (or just for getting older but hey blame it on the Accutane).

I'm a week far of ending Accutane. And yes i do have dry eyes, lower back pain, hair dryness and shedding and dry lips. But i'm positive. I know these effects will leave after ending Accutane. My friends say it, my family say it,my derm say it and i say it.

Stop obsessing about it and fearing it because you can even cause yourself side effects.

I would keep taking it if i were you. It will we worth it. Just pay attention to your body. Dry eyes is one of the most common side effects of Accutane, even at 10mg per day.

Best of lucks dear !

Yeah haha I'm known for reading these. Once I read about this girl that lost her legs or whatever. I was like, really? Fuck, not like body parts too.

I'll keep going and stop obsessing, I even gave this advice to someone else so yeah I'm a hypocrite.

Thanks for the advice. Good luck to you too!

Hey,

did it come back exactly the same? I mean it is okay if I lose some hair (although I don't want to, it'll grow back again) but like permanent damage to eyes and other stuff that is what I am scared of. I have already tried extremely regulated diets so I do not want to go back to that, it was frustrating and yielded no real results.

I will be carful on it. I'm still sticking to 20 mg/ day for now, and that is pretty low considering.

Thanks, but it is just a picture :)

well since i stopped really early (6 months before the end ) ...i was suprsied to find that when my acne returned it wasnt that bad ....but maybe that 's because im on a super clean diet (no gluten no dairy ...no sugar ....no junk food ) who knows .....but as i read from the net ...most people have their acne return less severe than before ..but some have it exacly the same ...or even worse ...its all depends on the person

i hope that you'll be one of the lucky ones ...and dont have any lasting side effects from accutane ....just be carefull and dont ignore signs of problems ...but dont get obssesed about it either

i know its a picture but you're an attractive girl .....and no much of acne or marks can change that ....red marks will go away ...and so acne ....Trust me

scars are another thing but there is stuff you can do about it

good luck
