I recommend salicylic acid as a topical treatment for blackheads and other noninflamed acne, which seems to be your main problem. SA helps break down hardened sebum inside the pores. As far as oil control, I've been having luck with hemp seed oil. I take it as a daily supplement, gel capsule form. Not the purest form out there but it's been working for me to keep oil under control. In addition to oil control, hemp seed oil when ingested can also help change the makeup of your sebum so that it is less likely to harden and get stuck in the pores.
Good luck with whatever you decide!
The picture helps. I think you should start off by going to get a facial somewhere by a professional facialist. He/she will pop the pimples safely and clean out all of those pores. It will feel good and get a lot of the dirt and sebum that's collected in those black heads. Don't try it your self or you'll become a pimple popping addict, like me. Go get a facial. Then try some of the other products described here. Personally, none of them have worked for me. However I have cystic acne. Pray to the good lord you dont have that!
Hi Adele,
Your body's physiology is the root of the issue. There are many levers that can be pulled here, and diet is certainly a big one. For me, it has been the biggest. Exercise second. But everyone is different
I struggled for YEARS, well into my 20's, and even used makeup to cover things up (and I'm a guy!).
Happy to share more about what worked for me and what might work for you from a diet perspective. Just shoot me a message if you're interested.
Healthy diet, organic only, GMO free, pesticide free, processed free. Eat like your great ancestors did. No fast food. Get rid of the western hemisphere diet lifestyle. Drink at least half a gallon of filtered water. Exercise everyday for a minimum of 30 minutes; walking is fine. Reduce your stress levels as much as possible. Read books; gain knowledge.
Take an ample amount of antioxidants. Studies have shown that people with acne have lower concentrations of antioxidants than people with clear skin. Some sources of antioxidants: green tea, white tea ( my favorite ), oolong tea, black tea, matcha tea ( my favorite ), blueberries, strawberries, oranges, lemons ( detoxification ), vegetables, turmeric, astaxanthin, ect.
Diet, in my opinion, is the best way to ameliorate acne conditions. It's also healthy for your overall holistic heath. Having a healthy body is the genesis of a happy life.
I eradicated my acne by strictly and repetitively following this lifestyle. Good luck.
Do what KimchiiMonsturr said.
I would also reccomend getting tests done to check for food sensitivities and gut health.
Also, say away from acne products. They tend to make acne worse. Yours isn't severe, but it can definitely get that way if you use enough of what the derm gives you.
