Hello people. I have been suffering from some sort of bumbs/red spots or whatever on my buttocks for quite some time now. I don't remember when it all started, it could even have started before i hit puberty, so it have been going for a good couple of years (i'll turn 20 soon). It's rather annoying and quite embarrassing. I have tried different acne products including benzoyl peroxide (5%) with little/no result, and a few home remedies with zero results.
I don't think im allergic to anything. However im lazy when it comes to showering and do not shower too often, also i sit alot by my computer making my bum sometimes a little sweaty. I have very little pimples anywhere else beside a few on my face once in a while which isint really a issue.
Can anyone here identify/confirm that this is acne? If not, what is it? And please tell me how i should try to get rid of them, products? Home remedies? I'll do pretty much anything rather than going to the doc :/
PLEASE! Thank you!
If you get a sweaty bum, you need to shower afterward. The actual process of sweating is pretty good for skin, but letting the sweat dry and sitting in sweated-in clothes can clog your pores and cause acne.
You can try washing the area with a pyrithione zinc shampoo (such as Head and Shoulders) and see if that helps, seeing at the BP is doing nothing for you.

thanks, pyrithione zinc shampoo? Never heard of it, but worth a try i guess! Do you have to get it from a special store?

Nope, you can get Head and Shoulders from any Target/WalMart/grocery store. It has antibacterial and antifungal effects. I think there's a thread around here somewhere about it and back acne.
EDIT: Here's one thread: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/91162-im-clear-using-head-and-shoulder-shampoo/
You can search for others as well, I think there are a few.

Thanks again, i shall look for the Head and shoulder product next time i go shopping, i live in europe but hopefully i will find it. And i guess i should have to start showering everyday? Ugh im so lazy when it comes to that. Wish me good luck and thanks !
I agree that it is likely folliculitis and not acne. I have been through Accutane, which cleared me up all over EXCEPT this pesky problem. I've struggled with it on and off for years. I eventually realized it was directly related to me being a performance pianist. Whenever I was practicing super hard, sitting on my bench for hours, the situation would get much worse. I looked into it a bit, and this is apparently quite common for people who spend a lot of time sitting on their butts being sweaty. For example, professional bike riders.
Anyhoo - piano is a big part of my life I am not prepared to give up, so I tried everything. Showering right after practicing, Benzoyl peroxide, any other acne cream I had around, anti-fungals (like head and shoulders and nizoral), and rubbing alcohol. Nothing budged it.
Finally, one day, out of exasperation I bought clearasil rapid action pads. I didn't think they would do much because they are mainly alcohol and salicylic acid, which are both things I had tried before in different products.
Within about a week my butt was noticeably better, and within a couple weeks it was totally clear. I have never had an 'acne' product actually work for anything (hence the Accutane), so I was AMAZED with this. I kept using them and my butt has been clear ever since, going on about two years now. I get the occasional little thing, but not this acne-like rashy crap I was dealing with before.
I use one in the morning before I put my undies on, and one in the evening when I take them off. I just wipe over the general area where I was having issues. I've gotten lazy a few times, and the issue comes back, so I know it is entirely the pads that have helped me.
Anyway - I'm still not clear on why pads these work so well for me, or if they would work for others, but they have been a miracle for me. I can sit on my piano bench all day and still be fine. I am not the type to hype a product, especially one made by clearasil, but this shit is magic for me.
Hope you find your solution.

Thank you for the long answer! So i assume it is rather folliculitis than acne, anyone have more suggestions please?
