Ive been doing some reseach and found that although theres no scientific studies in correlation between whey protein intake and breakout, many people say it's one of the culprits of breakout.
Is this true? Ive been taking it and idk if this is what's causing me to still breakout on my 4 1/2th month of Accutane treatment. My derm said its fine as long as it has no Vit A. Im taking Gold Whey Standard Isolates. Checked on the nutrition fact and it has no Vit A. Should I stop takin it?
Whey protein is made from dairy. Milk is known to have an affect on acne with the reason of having multiple different hormones that triggers it.
There's also speculations about protein powder containing different hormones to make muscles grow faster.
I've personaly used a lot of whey protein and i cut it out completely a few months ago, along with any dairy products. I would definitely stop using it and start
eating more food that contains protein instead.
Had really bad acne before I started using whey protein and limited dairy / no milk. Started lifting, drinking 60g whey plus milk no change in acne. Everyone is different but I know for sure dairy is not the cause of my acne.
Its also completely fine to drink whey protein on accutane.

Thanks! I thought it was te culprit of my breakouts but i think my acne pattern wasnt any different than it was before i started taking protein. As the 2nd poster said, dairy might affect negatively on other ppls skin, but i doubt it has a negative effect on mine though. I cut off whey intake for 2-3 weeks just recently and had no change
