Hey Acne.org,
I've been using the regimen for over 3 months now and I've finally been clear for the most part. I had this stubborn cyst for the past two weeks that never emerged into a whitehead, maybe 1/8th inch in diameter. It was nodular-like and hard. Usually my pimples become whiteheads fairly quickly so I didn't think two weeks was "normal". I decided to pop it (sigh).
I firstly tried to pop it with my fingers with pressure, but it didn't work (D:). I already noticed after my attempt that the cyst became a tad bigger. I ended up puncturing it with a needle and now it really swelled up. It's very inflamed at the site where I punctured it, and now it looks like there's a white border surrounding the pimple which makes it look doubled in size. I managed to get some of the white stuff out but I don't think I got it all.
Is it possible that the white "border" is trapped pus but spread out under my skin? I'm terrified I'm going to wake up with multiple cysts on my face or that I infected it! I'm now compressing the site with ice to hopefully improve the swelling and it's been draining lots of blood and clear fluid.
What do you think it is? Should I be worried? Will the bump eventually flatten?
It is possible when you try to pop a cyst if you don't get it all out it has the potential to spread the bacteria around. I deal with cysts myself, it's best to leave them alone and just apply BP to them. Ice will definitely help with the inflammation but you don't want to keep irritating it. I haven't tried this yet but I have heard that using this drawing salve "prid" can help bring them to a head. I think it's sold at the vitamin shoppe and wholefoods for around $5
you can tell if the pimple is ready to be popped or not , if the white surface comes to the top you stick a needle through it to make a little opening to decrease inflammation also if it doesnt come out dont force it as you can being pushing it in deeper creating bigger problems
