I am on my own acne journey to clear skin, and will soon be starting the Regimen. I was doing a lot of research today, and honestly, I was considering using Proactiv, but greater minds prevailed. =)
Needless to say, I found a few cool guys on Youtube, including Daniel Kern, of course. But I also watched some of David's acne videos on natural acne treatments, and I learned that drinking water and staying hydrated is a great way to treat acne.
Then I ran into this guy, Taylor, who is actually going to Stop washing his face to give himself acne on Purpose, and then show people that he is going to get clear skin again by using the Regimen. His YouTube video is titled "I'm Giving Myself Acne on Purpose!!"
I mean, this guy is going to give himself acne on purpose????
Then use the Regimen to get clear again...
Is he crazy, or is it just me?
I'd say he's crazy haha
Acne is no fun to deal with so wouldn't want to purposely do anything to make myself break out. And the regimen is a fairly long process - unless you're lucky enough to only have milder acne - and I wouldn't want to go through it (especially not the first month or so where you're skin is still adjusting) on purpose / if I didn't have to! (Nothing against the regimen though! I'm currently still using it and it's helped improve my skin a lot!)
Does he mention what he had been using to wash his face / keep his skin clear?
I'd have to guess it was with something like SA or BP - because I don't think just 'stopping washing your face' would give you acne - unless you were already predisposed to having acne and a BP or SA wash was the thing keeping it all at bay... (I'm not sure about SA but I know with BP, if you stop using it, for majority of people, the acne returns as that's just how BP works - it's the sort of thing majority of people need to continue using to see the results if it's an ingredient that works for them. I assume SA is similar to that).
Hey Lilly,
I'm glad the regimen has worked for you. The more people I talk to on here, the more excited I get to get started. I've also heard that the first time on it isn't the most fun thing in the world, to say the last, but it will be well worth it in the end, I think.
As for this crazy guy, he said that he's always used 2.5% benzoyl peroxide to stay clear. He's used a variation of Proactiv, Equate, and Acne.org products to get clear skin, but for the sole purpose of his "experiment," he said that he is going to follow his program. I'm assuming, this means he'll be using Acne.org, because that is the product his program mentions using.
The only reason why I even have any interest in this is because I'm just about to start the regimen, and if this guy can actually make his acne START and STOP on command, (so to speak) then he must really know how to use Dan's system.
I'm wondering if he's actually even going to go through with it...
That makes sense then - of course you can make your acne start and stop if you use (and therefore rely on) BP to keep your skin clear - that's just how the ingredient works. If you understand how BP works then that makes complete sense (of being able to 'stop' and 'start' acne). It's not just Dan's system - it's just BP. But I do agree Dan's regimen has been the more effective method of using BP for me anyway.
The regimen has helped my skin a lot which I am thankful for but I'm not clear on it because my skin really can't handle more than one application a day (and I don't have time to go through the adjustment period again to increase up to 2 applications right now)- I still have small breakouts fairly regularly but I'm ok with that because I can cope with that much more easily than how my skin was before I started. I still recommend it though! Good luck with using it
Hey Lilly,
Dan's system seems to definitely treat the acne problem, but maybe not from the core. As Taylor is able to get rid of his acne, make it come back, and then get rid of it again, I could see how this would be possible with benzoyl peroxide. What you're saying makes sense.
I just think it's crazy that anyone actually wants to give themselves acne on purpose.
This is his video... [Removed]
I'm still interested to see if he's going to go through with it, either way.
Oh, and just an update, I just got Acne.org in the mail, and I have already started treatment.

He's going to give himself acne(IF he can even accomplish that) but it'll go away when he stops. He won't need to eat right, he won't need to use good hygiene, but his "regimen" will work, and people will buy into it... But the truth is that acne is extremely genetic and his genes allow him to not have any acne. If he can get away with eating all the crap that's out there(milk from non-human species) while still having a clear face then there's really no point.
I see what you're saying. Some people I believe do have the ability to get clear with b.p. only, and stay clear without having a good diet. I think he's honestly just trying to show people how to get clear skin in a way that works for him. I'm seeing amazing results with the regimen by the way. =)

I don't know if you are following my
but I'm starting to see fantastic results from the regimen. I couldn't be more than happy to thank Daniel Kern for creating this wonderful product, along with David the Skin King, and Taylor Thompson for their great pieces of acne advice on Youtube.
I just wanted to give you guys an update on this story.
Taylor is going to give himself acne on purpose, only to get clear skin again. I didn't know if he was going to go through with this, but hisnew video seems to show that he is. I guess he got this idea from Drew Manning, the creator of Fit 2 Fat 2 Fit. Because I'm using the Regimen, and successfully, I'm excited to see this transformation, and hopefully, this will inspire other great Acne.org members to follow the Regimen to get clear skin...
Taylor's take on the Acne Internet Industry... I don't agree with all of it, but I found it an interesting read, and marked some of my thoughts in red.
QuoteThis is how you get clear skinWeve read this phrase before, but we still have acne, and this is whyA lot of acne bloggers have the right intentions, but what follows after This is how you get clear skin, renders your time wastedThis is how you get clear skin But guess what? Ive never actually tried any of these remedies, half of them probably dont even work, and the other half, well, who knows? I honestly have no idea what Im writing about. I just wanted to share a million different remedies with you (that I fished off [Removed]), and hopefully, you will figure out which ones work, which dont, and which to combine to get the best results. (SO TRUE!!!)Youre left with a blank face, and a ton of trial and error. Right? Im guessing youve tried a million different things to get rid of your acne and here you are today, looking up how to get clear skin. Am I right?Youre left picking up the pieces, and trying to fit them together. Its not your fault you have acne. Its their fault you have acne.Because people will write these long, drawn-out blog posts showing you How to Get Clear Skin, and at the end of the blog post, youve learned:
- How acne has formed.
- 20 potential remedies to clear skin.
- Why your hormones are screwing you over. (I actually think this is important)
- & something about follicles and sebum studied by Dr. Splinasky in 1997.
Ill be the first to say itWHO CARES? (I actually do...)Unless youre HC (hardcore) you probably dont. You just know 2 things: (1) You hate zits! and (2) you want them gone!Whats my point, here?Read the blogs, comments, forums, and watch the videos of people who are real, and who have actually shown you that they have actually used what theyre recommending. If someone writes a blog post with 20 different ways to get rid of acne, did they really try them all?Quality over quantity. You only need 1 acne strategy to get clear. (my favorite part)
