Risky, but im going to forgo all BP and SA treatment in favor of just using face wash and moisturizer. Giving it a week no matter what and seeing where it ends!

I would also like to add that when my first small breakout appeared, I (stupidly) used the St. Ives aprocot black head scrub. Didn't realize at the time what damage that can do to excisting acne, but one of my theories is that I set off a chain reaction to more zits after using that product.

My theory now is based off of the thought that being as gentle as possible, while not using chemicals will allow my skin to heal itself. I feel as if using these chemicals is causing my body to fight back.

Thanks, it just seems to me that its getting worse for some reason. I work in a profession that is all day, face to face. When you're 24 and suddenly start to break out like this, it really depresses you. I dread going into work and having to deal with co-workers and customers. :(

I know that shouldn't fret it, as it will just make matters worse, but it is really depressing and I feel for everyone on this board with acne issues,

Is my progress fairly normal for having treated for a couple of weeks? I'm going to research a little more, but I want to determine if this is a hormonal thing, or just some weird infection that I contracted.

Another step I am taking, is using a different towel to dry my face after washing (rather than my shower towel). I usually only wash my shower towel once a week and logic would say that its really possible I am causing some issues by using that same towel on my acne prone face.

Imo, looks better now... keep sticking with the same routine for at least a month. Make sure you know whether or not it works for you. What made you not want to go back to Skin ID?

As far as I can tell, it no longer exists haha.

Im thinking of simply sticking with a wash twice daily. The BP and salicylic acid seem to not help at all.

I also just realized that the acid is about 7 months expired (could that cause more acne breakouts?) and the BP was about 3 months out of date.

I didn't really have any issues with acne short of washing with water every night in the last few years, so Im just going to stick with straight cleanser (from Acne.org) + moisturizer and see where she goes.

This could end up really sucking, since I may breakout hard core from the lack of products being used, but oh well I guess, gotta start somewhere. On top of that, I don't like the idea of being tied to BP or any other harsh chemical for years.

Here goes nothing, wish me luck!

I suggest you drinks lots of water. Not much sweets (chocolate is okay!). It helped A LOT when I got this random breakout of acne.

Thanks Alexa! I'm literally scared to death as to how this is going to turn out...but its have bad acne with BP and SA and see little to no change, or stay simple and see how my body deals with it naturally.

Well, after not using BP or SA since about 3 yesterday, I have noticed one pimple in the center lower of my chin and one on my lip that doesn't seem to ever go away haha.

I post an updated pic tonight.

Hey man. Sorry it came back! It's worse when it comes back, because after living life as a confident adult, part of you wants to feel like the shitty depressed teenager of the past. I think you're doing fine. Don't forget to keep a healthy diet. I'm currently trying to cut out all processed sugars (it's so harrrdd).

Hi NS1234..u made a good decision by not sticking to BP and do cut out Processed sugars and oils as suggested by others also. That helps a lot.

I have experienced considerable improvemnt by taking hormone control pills on suggestion of gynec(am a lady) and cutting out sugars and oils.

Indeed it does suck. Especially when someone vocally notices it haha. I'm getting better about dealing with being depressed on the issue, but its still not fun.

As of a year ago, I drink no soda and try to stay away from sugar. I do occasionally binge a little on cookies and whatnot during the holiday season (who can say they don't haha?), but other than that I keep pretty clean.

Question -

I consume (religiously) a larger bowl of toasted-wheat every morning. I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to eliminate the wheat cereal for awhile and see what happens. Any suggestions to another cereal that could replace the wheat and be as/more healthy? Taste isn't really a huge issue with me, I can enjoy some pretty bland foods once I eat them a few times.

Also, just realized that I had two new pimples the day after consuming one bottle of my favorite IPA during the previous night. I don't know if that is just coincidence or not, because I don't recall breaking out before from beer and I drink at least a bottle/night.

No picture because my camera's battery died, but its looking like I was abusing my skin by using expired acne products. I feel right now that if I had just let the few pimples I had be, I wouldnt be dealing with these blemishes and red spots all over my face now.

Second mistake was using a scrub during the peak of the few pimples I had. St. Ives apricot scrub seemed to spread the acne around on different parts of my chin, I was just too stupid to notice and when more break outs occurred I kept using it. Huge mistake.

How I feel at this point:

No more burning on the face, little to no itching either. I take this as a sign (correct me if I am wrong) that the skin is healing on its own. When the acne was present, almost every night I would feel tingling in the area it would appear.

Here is hoping its not a placebo, been at the receiving end of getting my hopes up and its not fun when things don't go as well as you thought they were.

Ok, things are still going well.

About the only thing that keeps popping back are these little white heads that seem to be a small bubble of sorts on the top of the skin. Nothing deep seeded.

My question:

What do these white heads mean? Like I said, they are not deep at all, I barely have to touch them for a discharge to occur. I assume its because I'm not moisterizing enough, because they almost burn a little.

Either way, things are going fine.

Great, I was hoping the extra acne I had was just because of irritation from expired products....

Well, here we are at exactly a week of using just cleanser 3 times a day.

Yesterday and today I only washed my face in the morning and evening. The picture below was taken showing my face after just washing this morning. It feels pretty oily, but doesn't seem to look so terrible. Might stick with 2 times a day..but we'll see what my body decides to do.

Hey mate,

Perchance you are sleeping on your belly/on your side? I noticed your acne is centered to your chin and it helped me a lot to sleep on my back, not touching the pillow/sheets with my face, also make sure you switch pillow 2 times a week and sheets at least once a week!

Hope this can help you, it helped me!

Indeed I do sleep on my side. I generally move a lot when I sleep. Its an odd sensation sleeping on my back, but in the last couple of weeks Im getting used to it. Still though, I toss and turn..my body wants to kill me biggrin.png

@LeadingForce, what is a good quality DIM supplement? Im just worried it would start more acne....

Your acne looks like a reaction to something, maybe a product you were using. You could be sensitive to sulfates - have you tried using products without sulfates, esp. without SLS?Toothpaste and mouthwash included.

Another possibility could be the water you use to wash your face with. If you live in an area with harsh water that contains chlorine and fluoride, your skin could be reacting to that.

As for DIM, if you are male I wouldn't recommend it. You need to research supplements and herbs very well before starting to take them, to determine if they are suitable for you based on your symptoms.

I agree with your reaction theory.

In the last 5 months I have moved to a completely different area. My old place had a water softener while this one seems to have pretty crappy water.
