I've had acne since i was a teenager, and it's gotten worse over the years, but in my later young adult hood it isn't as bad, however when i had a girlfriend it completely went away, yet nothing had changed with my diet or health style.
However, since breaking up with my ex and suffering from the breakup my acne had come back, and my anti biotics did nothing to prevent it, infact soon after i had broken up with my ex, my acne was the worst it had ever been in my entire life. Currently my acne isn't at it's worse, but its still noticeable and it bothers me.

I know the lightning in the room is bad and the pictures are kinda low res. But characteristics of my acne would be bumps under the skin which are red and get filled with pus. Sometimes i'lll have to pop them else they will keep growing and growing. But my complexion on my face has a lot of dark res spots or what appears to be blood spots under the skin where the cyst was.
I'm current not taking any anti biotics as i've been on them for four+ years and my doctor switched me from Tetracycline to doxycycline and then to bactrim over the course of last year. And i think being on them for so long has caused me to have immune problems and gut flora issues. I've tried taking topical creams such as Benzyl peroxide but the only thing it does it makes my face realllly red and break out bad. Tea tree oil made my face really red too, i've even tried baking soda and other stuff to no effect. I'm currently taking zinc tablets + this Acne pill (which i think is helping) also every morning and night i put Noxzema original onto my face (Which i think is helping too)
I Believe my acne could be hormonal and i've tried stopping masturbating to see if it helps, which i'll admit it does, but i can't seem to permanently stop myself from doing it. My diet is better then average, i don't eat fast food, i drink plenty of tea. My mom cooks good meals with lots of veg such as carrots and cabbage etc in them. I don't drink a ounce of soda, i'll occasionally drink wine or beer once a month. I don't drink milk at all (I drink Soy Milk and almond milk) I don't eat much sugar or any at all. I always try to have a glass OJ in the morning.
Going to a dermatologist is out of the question, i can't afford one. And all they will do anyway is put me on accutane. benzoyl or give me oral antibiotics, and the one dermatologist i go to usually doesn't even bother to look at me, all she does it come into the room looks at me for 20 seconds and then says okay i'll give you this and walks out. (Not very helpful)
So anyway, all that concluded what kind of acne do i have? does anyone have any ideas as to what could be effecting my face?
I can't see your acne very clearly in the photos, but based on what you described it's probably due to stress and maybe depression over your breakup. Are you generally happy with your life at this point? If not, it might be stress that's causing your acne. Cortisol rises when we are stressed and/or depressed, and even after the stress is gone, it takes a while for it to return to normal levels. So try to do things you enjoy and get regular exercise and fresh air. Also, make sure your digestion and gut flora are ok after prolonged use of antibiotics. You might benefit from vegetable juices and a dairy-free acidophilus supplement (probiotic). Orange juice is a bit acidic - you can try to replace it with vegetable juice to see if that helps, and get your vitamin C from either a supplement or vegetables. Perhaps you have stomach issues from taking antibiotics for so long, so I would recommend eating more vegetables than fruit bc they are easier to digest.
For washing your face, find a gentle cleanser and moisturizer that say "balancing" or "Restoring" to make sure your skin' PH is at optimal level (5.5). If you are using harsh chemicals, it's probably too acidic.

Wow, thank you for such a nice reply. Sorry if you can'y see my acne very well, i used my ipod to take the picture hehe. Okay yes, i believe the huge stress and depression i suffered is what caused me to break out really bad. Am i happy? well, i'm more content if anything right now, although i'm more happier and less depressed/stressed then i was when i broke up. I've been taking probiotics on a irregular basis, but usually i'll take a tablet every now and then. As i've said i'm currently using Noxzema (dunno what PH is on it) and i used betadine for a few weeks which i think helped too. Right now i currently have one big cyst on my jaw line. I've also got into a habbit for the last two days of switching my pillows to reduce bacteria growth on my face.
So i should cut Orange juice and get Carrot juice? I also make sure i get plenty of fiber i have a dish a cereals each morning in soy milk or almond milk. Well yes, that's why i don't want to take anti biotics for that very reason. My grandma recently died actually, and they tried healing her infection with anti biotics, but they didn't work, cos she had been on them all of her life. So, i don't want the same fate to happen to me, even though i know anti biotics can help get rid of my acne, i honestly don't want the risk of it causing me damage.
No harsh chemicals on my face don't worry Noxzema is pretty smoothing on me. Other products cause redness and skin drying on me. (I have really sensitive skin)
But thank you for replying to me.
Lots of people with acne have a DHT (dihydrotestosterone) sensitivity issue. Just means that when your DHT spikes, instead of your body being able to handle it, it freaks out and creates acne.
You said reducing masturbation helps some, which is an indicator that it's a DHT issue, since DHT is going crazy during sexual activity.
Stress also spikes DHT.
The way males deal with this DHT-acne usually revolves around over the counter herbs like saw palmetto, stinging nettle, and vitamin B5. These herbs help get your DHT to a better state.
As with any treatment, there is lots of controversy. Usually the first thing men say, is waaaaaah, but I don't want to change my testosterone, it means I won't be a maaaaaan.
All I can say is, there is an ideal level of testosterone sensitivity for any male. Too low is not good, but too high is not good either. Acne is not attractive or pleasant or fun. So you should do what you have to do to get your testosterone sensitivty to a point where it is not causing problems for you anymore.
Women change their hormones starting at about age 18 with birth control pills so we don't get pregnant every time we do the deed. Birth control pills constantly pump us with hormones that are different from our "natural" state. Well, guess what, we don't turn into men, and for most of us, the side effects are pretty minimal. As soon as we go off birth control, our hormones go back to whatever they were before.
The effects of something like saw palmetto are SO minimal compared to something powerful like birth control, that I don't think it's even worth worrying about. And hey, if it doesn't work out for you, just stop taking it, and you'll go back to your glorious testosteronified pizza face.
Also remember that Accutane reduces your DHT some anyway...and rarely do I hear any man worrying about their testosterone when they go on that drug.

Oh so sorry about your grandma It's wise to avoid antibiotics unless you absolutely need them. They only temporarily cure acne anyway, unless the acne is caused by an infection.
Hmm...soy milk and almond milk can cause issues to people who are sensitive to soy or nuts. You will need to do some trial and error until you find the right diet for you. Generally, I recommend adding sweet potatoes to your diet because they helped me a lot! I haven't heard of anyone breaking out from sweet potatoes either.
Eat more vegetables, less fruits...if you do have a glass of orange juice, have it on an empty stomach so that you can digest it easier.
I do think there is a correlation between depression and acne, so improving your mood could definitely help. It might not cure your acne, but it can improve it slowly along with a clean diet, exercise, and sleep.

Does taking fluoxetine make acne worse? i've read that anti-depressants make acne worse. And a lot of people said that when they take it they break out bad.
