Hi Everyone, My name is Jeff and I am 20 years old.

I suffer from Mild acne which is annoying.. Is kinda taking the little bit of confidence I have...

I hate it.

My dermatologist recommended Accutane but I don't wanna do it..

The side effects are terrifying.I am already depressed and suffer from anxiety. Plus 7 months is a long time...confused.gif

Part of me wants to try it, but the other part is really reluctant.

Any Advice?

Hello Jeff92,

Please don't get depressed, stress is indirectly responsible for the cause of Acne. I appreciate that you don't want to take Accutane which is a very good decision. You can try holistic methods to cure your acne naturally.

  1. Meditate for 2 minutes daily
  2. Eat healthy
  3. No dairy foods
  4. Try water fasting for a day or two ( It really helps a lot )
  5. Get good sleep for about 7-8 hours

Water fasting is a type of fasting in which the practitioner consumes only water. Water fasting is an aggressive body cleansing where toxins ( the main cause of acne ) gets expelled from body very quickly. It is not for everyone , it requires a lot of discipline and willpower. It is very demanding as it requires some special conditions.

Conditions required for water fasting

  1. You need to rest most of the time during the water fasting, no intensive physical work, try to avoid watching TV, listening music, sitting in from of PC. You can read books, sit out in the sun and relax.
  2. The environment in which you are must me very quite.
  3. Drink only mineral water.

I have witnessed many people inflicted with very aggressive acne who had great results, almost magical results with water fasting. It is the most effective and powerful regimen to cure acne, The body works magnificently towards water fasting . Please consult you doctor before conducting this type of fast.

Accutane does seem pretty drastic for mild acne.. There are plenty of options you can use to help treat mild acne. For starters the tips the other poster mentioned are a good start. You should also try to get yourself on a regimen with a gentle cleanser, some form of treatment (Salicylic acid - Benzoyl peroxide - Topical antibiotic) and a non-comedogenic moisturizer.

Have you tried other treatments? or did your derm just try to stick you on accutane right away?

Oh , I've tried everything. Anti biotics, topical gels, neutragena products , clearasil..

I'm going nuts. I have alot of white heads and my skin is dry.. I'm thinking either Proactive or Epiduo as my last resorts.

Please don't take Accutane for mild acne. This is a very serious drug with harmful side effects.
