Are bad breakouts expected during use of antibiotics prescribed from dermatologist. I been having worse breakout 8 weeks in now. I don't want to feel discourage that it is not working for me. Anybody else had

Have the same story or happening to them when on antibiotics?

I've got a really bad breakout at the moment and I'm also just over 8 weeks into a course of antibiotics so am feeling pretty discouraged! I don't know if a breakout at this point is normal but it's interesting that we're both experiencing the same thing. My skin was starting to get so much clearer a week ago as well! *Sigh*

I took antibiotics about 4 years ago and it did give me such a bad breakout a few weeks in but after taking it for 3 months it did clear my face up really well. Sadly it didn't last for very long. The acne came back after 10 months. And I didn't really pursue the antibiotics anymore after that because you build up a resistance to it and in the long run its not good for your body to keep taking it.

This is such a buzzkill of a post, but I'm just sharing my experience with it.

Hi, I was on antibiotics for about a yearor more, for the first 2-3 or even 4 months it will be a slow process, and you will probably still get breakouts. For me It started to clear quite soon at like 3 months maybe, I can't remember entirely, but anyway I was clear for ages and it was best year of my life, however this is the bad part, I eventually had to come off them because of all the bad effects of the antibiotics, my digestion was messed up, and I was getting rashes and high blood pressure, something like that.. so I had to come off them..

I mean it's hard to say, you don't want to be on them for a long time, but I think it's quite a good thing to use if you need it to clear up for sometime, I mean I still get spots now, but I think the year I was on them I missed the time of where I would have probably had chronic acne. SO what I am trying to say is it helped me but I still have a problem with spots now, but I can deal with them easier, because my skin isn't in AS bad condition as it was before.. I am just going to wait till I grow out of it, I am 18 so It should clear up soon I believe.
