The moisturizer is non-comedogenic (I checked the ingredients), it uses only titanium dioxide as the sunscreen ingredient, and it is spf 15.
So here is what I am using right now against acne:
Morning:
-Wash face with clearasil 2% salycilic acid wash (it is a gel, NOT a scrub)
-apply moisturizer w/ spf 15
Evening:
-wash face with clearasil
-apply 5% benzoyl peroxide (benzac AC)
I have also been applying another moisturizer, but I recently found out today that it has a few comedogenic ingredients, so I am stopping to apply it today.
Here is what happened: My acne is getting a lot better (and I have mild/moderate acne btw, but now it looks a lot more like mild). BUT, after the second day (yesterday) of using benzoyl peroxide, (and I go out in the sun every day btw, but not too much), I noticed my cheeks started to get red. However, I also used benzoyl peroxide on my forhead, which is covered with my bangs, so my forehead did not get red. Today I clipped my bangs up, so my forehead was showing. I put sunscreen moisturizer on all of my face, including forehead. And now my cheeks are really red, and my forehead is slightly red!!! I had SPF 15 on!!!! What the heck??? Why am I getting sunburnt when I am wearing SPF 15? Should I up it to SPF 30?
And I have used benzoyl peroxide before btw, in the winter, when I was on proactive, and it was fine (because obviously I didn't get any sun exposure in the winter).
From experience you need SPF 30 or 50 with BP, and also a large sun hat in good weather. Be warned, BP can make you go red when you get hot etc when you're first getting used to it, and it can burn your skin without help from the sun. Try using something with antioxidants in in the morning (green tea is good) incorporating some jojoba oil into your regimen and bumping up the SPF and sun safety procedures.
Or adopt a vampiric lifestyle. That was my technique during the first few weeks with BP.
