Acne Only On Cheeks

I'm 16 now and I've had mild acne for a few years. I went to the doctor last year and he prescribed me a benzoyl peroxide wash and topical cream (Acanya). It cleared up my face immensely, although I'd still get a few pimples on my cheeks, chin, or nose area every now and then. But ever since school ended this year, I've been breaking out pretty badly only on my cheeks (the rest of my face is mostly clear). Every other day or so, I get 1 or 2 new pimples on my cheeks. This may not seem like a lot, but previous pimples there take at least a week to disappear if I don't pick them (even then they still leave redness and visible irritation). The pimples start out as small raised lumps, then transition into a whitehead that turns into a hardened yellow surface. They don't respond to any of the salicylic acid treatments, benzoyl peroxide treatments, or home remedies I've tried. I've popped them too, and they sometimes leave a scar but popping them seems like the only way to get rid of them. Right now, I've got a decent amount of small but noticeable scars on my cheeks. I'm just very frustrated as I take good care of my face but it only seems to get worse. Again, I only get acne on my cheeks. Any suggestions to get rid of this?

On a separate note, two pimples on either side of my face bordering my cheek/jawbone area have disappeared, but left small, hardened tissue beneath the surface of where they were. What are these?

Well first of all its hormonal(like all acne), so even though you take good care of your face, which probably does help a decent amount, its not going to decrease your sebum production so it's not going to stop acne formation :/. Now as for getting rid of it..thats the hard part. If BP and SA arent working your going to need to see a derm in my opinion cause that is your only ticket to more powerful treatments like antibiotics and retinoids, which ones is up to the doctor. If it is leaving a lot of scarring as you say you may be a candidate for accutane as well. Also make sure you are using a cleanser and moisturizer, while these wont clear your acne, they may help and should be a part of any regimen. Also id say forget about home remedies, they rarely clear acne, and at best result in 3-4 less minor pimples a month, in my opinion.

Oh and those hard lumps could be keratin dried up under the skin or hardened scar tissue? not quite sure but a derm would be able to tell you.

Hey man, I'm 15 and am in the same boat you are. I only have acne on my cheeks and had mild acne for most of my time. What you really need to do is find a way to stop this before it gets worse. Pimples on the cheeks scar really easily, which sucks. I have moderate acne (almost moderately severe) but fortunately it has been clearing up recently. I've had cheek acne for a little bit of time but I'm pretty sure I found out how to clear it up for us teenager. Ask your mom or drive yourself to the nearest walmart or pharmacy store and get vitamins. I'm telling you, they really do work. Cheek acne is often related to digestion and some horomones. Eat some more fruits and vegetables as well. Try and limit milk consumption. I have more information on my thread that I posted. It's under general discussion and it's called "Determine Severity (pics)" You'll see that I have cheek acne and it has pictures and how vitamins have gotten it pretty clear in a few days. Seriously dude, it works. You can even google "vitamins and acne" or "vitamin a and acne" or "vitamin D and acne". Go to the store and take the following vitamins: Vitamin A, D, E, and Zinc. Get a bottle of each. Also, if you really want to, get a probiotic. You can find them in the vitamin section of the store as well. They help with digestion, which is often a cause of cheek acne. Trust me on this. I've been there, done that. Find and check out the thread that I told you to look at. It has much more information and can even be more beneficial. I know people are about antibiotics and derms and accutane but try vitamins for a little. Also, have patience. You could see benefits in a day or you could see benefits in two weeks. It just all depends. Taking these vitamins have decreased my sebum production and they are very healthy for you!

Oh my god dude. I've been taking a mutli-vitamin, zinc & calcium tablet, and a probiotic for a few days now and I can already see a huge difference. I'm still getting very mild acne in a few areas, but it is not very noticeable. I haven't got one of those huge pimples I kept getting on my cheek since the day I started taking the vitamins. You literally saved my summer. Before the vitamins I was embarrassed to leave the house, and now I'm looking forward to a vacation in a week. Thanks a lot man

Glad I could help man! Your acne seemed pretty mild so clearing it up should've been pretty easy with those vitamins. No matter what though, make sure that you keep taking the probiotic and zinc! Seriously, for teenagers like us this is the most important thing to take. My acne is already clearing up very nice due to these two components. They really help. Glad I could help! Also, just to be warned, I did get clear on the zinc for a few days and then had a breakout which wasn't too bad. However, after that everything began clearing up. Just no matter what, do not stop using zinc or probiotics. They only do good for you! Have a great summer! :)

So I was still stuck with pimples from my previous breakout. In an attempt to get rid of the dark marks they left, I applied aloe vera (straight from a plant lead) to my face. It helped get rid of the marks, but everywhere I applied it I broke out pretty badly. This, along with the other smaller pimples I was still getting, has made my face look almost as bad as before. Does anyone know of any dark spot/scar reducing products that won't cause me to break out again and any other spot treatments that work well with deep cheek acne, as Benzoyl peroxide is not very effective for me

Im really suprised that the aloe vera made you breakout. Are you sure it was just natural aloe vera? No added oils or anything? And as for the spots, cheek spots are the hardest to get out unfortuanetely. I havent found anything yet to remove these spots :(

It was pure aloe Vera, straight from the plant. All I did was make a cut and apply it. How did this happen?!?
