So.. my acne is pissing the ### out of me!! I have had acne for 4 years now, it never stops! I was clear for a maximum of 3 days, I thought I finally was rid of it, and then it come back. I NEVER have clear skin, and its worst around my mouth.. A bit on my forehead as well.

I am 17, male, and I'm going on vacation in 30 days, we're suppose to drink, have fun, check out girls and all that, but that will never happen with my look now.. I tried to not pop my pimples, but that doesnt work, they always come back.. and now I only pop if its a head.. I dont use any acne cleanser, trust me, it doesnt work.. I have used over 20!! they just made it worse.. After I just washed with water, my acne got better, but I still got it! And I always have like 10 pimples on my face.. 2-3 wouldnt mind me.. but its always 10!!

I started to take 50,000 IU vitamin A 4 days ago, hope it helps me.. I really need nice skin soon.. this is endless torture..

what else can I do? PLEASE!! Thanks, really appreciate it!

Also, do you think girls judge you a lot if you have acne? Is it a big turn off?

Teenage years are prime time for acne due to your hormones. What are your diet and topical regimen like? Are you taking any other supplements?

And what specific kind of Vit A are you taking? 50,000IU may be a little high IMO, with potential toxicity and adverse side effects due to it being fat soluble. Just make sure you do your research. There are other threads here with loads of information and different opinions on megadosing vit A.

Normal diet, not much pop, NO candy, wash water in shower every day, 2x times, ending with cold water to close pores. I went down to 40,000 IU, It's toxic if I take 50-100 000 for several months, I'll stop or go down to 10,000 daily after 2-3 weeks, so I know if vitamin a actually helps.. Im so anxious, and sad.. acne ruins everything for me..

Hang in there. Good idea to drop dosage after a couple weeks. What specific kind of vit A are you taking? Cod liver oil, palmitate, beta carotene, etc.? And what brand?

Pores cannot open and close, so the cold water won't really do anything, but an ice cube would help reduce the inflammation.

What specifically is a "normal diet?" Give me specific foods that you do and do not eat most of the time.

Do you use any topical treatments at all? Moisturizers? Exfoliation? Toner?

1) Your skin will probably not get significantly better in a month. It often takes at LEAST several months with a new treatment to see any results. But who knows, maybe it will improve a bit.

2) Over dosing on Vitamin A can be a bit risky...Why didn't you just try to get Accutane? If you insist on using the Vitamin A can you get a doctor to help monitor your progress?

3) No, acne is not a big turn off (in my opinion). I have been attracted to many guys with acne, and I have friends with clear skin who have as well. Honestly, acne is such a common thing that most people don't notice it that much or if they do it doesn't bother them. Just go on your vacation, have fun with your friends and don't worry about your skin. If you're going somewhere warm, the sun you get will probably help your skin too. :)
