I'm 29 years old latino male and my skin type is mixed. I currently have no acne at all on my face, except for some blackheads on my nose, which are basically impossible to get rid of
Should a person like myself who doesn't have any acne, be using benzoi peroxide?
I have never used benzoic perozide on my face, and I rarely if never break out, I haven't gotten a pimple on my face in like a year
I don't know if benzoic peroxide may be good for someone who doesn't have acne, I have a feeling it may do more harm than good, such as causing irritation?
My current routine is
Morning
- Cetaphil sensitive facial cleanser
- Neutrogena ultra sheer liquid (only when I'm going to be outside for long)
Night
- Cetaphil sensitive facial cleanser
- Ponds moisturizer with niacinamide (supposedly it helps with acne and lightens then skin)
I exfoliate twice a week
maybe I should keep my routine, if is not broken, why change it? any tips on what else to add ?
Good for you for using a gentle cleanser and moisturizing your skin. That's a lesson many of us with acne (myself included) learned far too late. I personally would avoid any products that could cause dryness/irritation since you're saying you don't have acne because I think it could potentially cause a breakout. Just my two cents though. Good luck!

Yeah, when I was younger like 20 years old, I had a few pimples here and there, and my skin was more oily (now is more on the dry side, probably because I'm older)
I would use like exfoliating creams almost everyday, and my skin would not get irritated, but If I use those things now, my skin irritates with frequent use, especially those deep cleansing creams, they removes all dirt, but if I use them too often, they end up leaving my skin reddish
My biggest problem right now are the blackheads on my nose, they are basically impossible to get rid of, although I have never tried using BP on them, I kinda have a feeling that it won't do much
Leave well alone, that's what I'd advise. Just carry on washing your face as normal, don't use any acne treatments at all.
Trying to prevent acne can often lead to full-blown breakouts. Just enjoy your clear skin
what abour blackheads on nose?
i have used those strips, but they don't remove much, and i read they are not good for the skin, i stopped using them
Those blackheads that are on your nose aren't blackheads. They are sebaceous filaments and everyone has them. Some people's just fill up more quickly than others.
They are the mostly in the t zone area.
So, you don't have acne at all lucky! Your regimen seems pretty good and I wouldn't bother changing anything.
If you want to minimize your sebaceous filaments u can try a warm compress followed by a clay mask on just your nose. That should help.

I never heard of sebacous filament, everyone calls them blackheads, but yeah you are right, they are not black
I'm just reading about it, and some articles say that if you have larger pores (genetic) you will have more sebacous filament
I have large pores on my nose
No amount of cleansing will stop sebaceous filaments from forming, nor will extraction via pore strips or squeezing keep them from coming back within days. Treating healthy skin with aggressive products designed to combat acne won't remove those filaments; in fact, overly aggressive treatments could cause more problems than they solve. Focus on reducing the visibility of sebaceous filaments rather than their removal.
lol

this article says to lighten them using benzoil peroxide
such is life, cannot have perfection

Haha! Well I tried just using 10% bp on my nose and it worked at first. I could still see the filaments I just started doing a warm compress followed by a clay mask once a week. Sometimes I push them out but they come back a week later. Nothing is going to making them non visible though. The only way to make it look as though they're not there is to push and squeeze them out.

nobody has even mentioned that i have blackheads, or filaments, so I don't know, only I can see them
do you know of any good way or product to reduce pore size, this is also genetic though

I just use any bentonite clay. Aztec Secret Indian healing clay is good, it's a powder and you mix it with water or whatever liquid you want. Queen Helene mint Julip mask is also a bentonite clay with mint added so its invigorating. I hear french green clay is the best for troubled skin. Never tried it but you should look into it.
As for shrinking pores and reparing them the only thing that comes to mind is Mandelic acid. I read that it can actually repair pores and keep them clean. If you have clean pores they will look smaller. I've used a 5% mandelic acid toner from makeup artists choice and it worked great! I couldn't use it everyday because its just too strong. I used it twice a week with great results but I ran out recently
Can't really tell if it repaired my pores haha but, they were very clean and it practically melted the filaments and dry skin within minutes.
