Stubborn Dry Skin

Over the winter my skin has gotten very dry, to the point where lotion seems to do nothing but make the surface smooth and no more than that. I drink easily 8-12 glasses of water a day and my diet is relatively much healthier than the average Joe.

I've been taking 5 minute showers with warm water, scrubbing with a loofah with not too much soap, and applying lotion to my whole body right after I dry off. I've recently started washing my hair once every 4-5 days because my scalp has just gotten so flaky. My regimen now consists of me splashing my face with warm water once in the morning after going for a jog, with a follow up application of moisturizer, and at night I do the same but without any exercise prior. My regimen before consisted of me using an Aveeno cleanser every morning and night and a moisturizer, but that was just way too much.

I thought since the weather has gotten a lot warmer my skin would have gotten better by now, but it's still dry to the point where I can easily see wrinkles in my face if I tense my eyebrows or move my face at all. I don't understand how this has been happening considering I know people who take hot showers for 10-20 minutes every day and let the water hit their face and don't apply moisturizer, also not drinking much liquid and they're completely fine. I'm wondering maybe if I should just not wash at all.

Sorry that this isn't an answer to your question but may I ask how you shower, and wash your face, in 5 minutes? 0.o

I'm asking because i'd like to cut down my time showering but I end up spending a lot of time just washing my hands, washing my hair, washing my face thoroughly infront of the mirror, rinsing and washing hands before applying moisturizer.

AND in order to have some input:

I don't think the shower is having an impact on your dryness, since I take 30 minute showers or more and don't have flaky skin (though it does get tight). Maybe your moisturizer is not penetrating?

I never said I washed my face while taking a shower.

Have you tried moisturizing with an oil? Such as Jojoba, Coconut or grapeseed?

warm water bad idea.

5-10 minutes is okay.

using a moisturising cleanser should help.no soap please.

but then i can also think of using a low% bha wash which would kinda remove the upper dead layer of cells(which could be one reason why nothing seems to work).

drink water and maintain a healthy diet.carry that part.

also exercise or do something that would make u sweat and maintain ur blood flow.

#bend down and stay for 50-60 seconds everyday(twice if u can).

#u could the dog pose of yoga.

these are suppose to increase the blood flow to ur brain & face.
