Hey guys,
It's been years that I keep randomly getting this huge red spot on the side of my nose. It hurts quite a bit and if you touch it you can definitely feel that there's something underneath the surface.
I've had it for at least 4 years on a row, always at this time of the year.
I've got something important to do on monday and suddenly I have this dark, red spot on my nose again. It usually takes a long time for it to turn into a whitehead. At a certain point I had it for like a month or 2. Anyway, that was in the past. Now this thingy is back and I want it gone asap. I've applied honey and oatmeal on it, but I'm really considering trying to pop it and then applying honey on it. I don't want it to become a huge bump on monday, or for it to turn into a semi-whitehead while I'm in school.
Anyone know's what this annoying spot is and how to get rid of it?
Thanks!
I'm sorry for the bad quality picture. I had already put on the mask. And it doesn't look as big and red as it actually is on the picture, but here you go
I was really shocked when I first saw the picture because I didn't actually read the post and was like...wtf is that! It was just the oats...
The spot itself looks like a typical 'under the skin' kind of spot that takes forever to come to the surface (or doesn't at all). The only thing I could advise is leaving it alone. Honey is very anti-inflammatory so it should help...maybe you should try manuka honey - it's anti-inflammatory powers are beyond anything known to man! That's natural anyways...
Just try not to poke at it too much!
I tried looking for Manuka honey, but where I live the cheapest jar is 18 So that's quite a lot =p My current jar is Acacia honey which was only 5
Do you think I can leave the current mask on it overnight? Tomorrow I might try putting some ice on it and sleeping with some more honey on
I wouldn't leave the mask on overnight. Although honey is great for the skin, if it isn't washed off thoroughly, it can clog pores.
From research that I've done, I know that inflammation is your bodies way of healing and that using ice actually prevents the body from healing, therefore increasing the time it would take for your spot to heal.
Definitely use some honey in that area and reapply throughout the day, but don't cover your whole face in it constantly. Just when you do your masks.
Consider trying this: http://www.acne.org/the-ziit-method.html
Do not pick or squeeze at it though if it does not have a visible whitehead on it. That just makes them bigger and more red.
If the bump reoccurs in the same spot, the pore is impacted and probably will never heal on its own. You need to get a cortisone shot from a derm. It will atrophy the pore so it does not come back.
Oh wow, I should definitely go do that then.
By the way, do you guys think going sunbathing for like half an hour tops in my garden might help? To absorb some vitamin D?
I've been to the dermatologist about 4 years ago. I had some pimples now and then and this red spot as well. That's why I went to visit her. The only thing she could offer me was roaccutane but that was absolutely lunatic for the type of acne I had back then and my GPA declared her crazy. Other than that reoccurring now and then there's not really a big acne problem with my skin. I guess I'll find another one and visit him/her =p
Going to sunbathe for a bit now unless that's not really a good idea with it?
