So after I wash my face and moisturize, it still looks oily no matter what I do. I have tried washing with hot water, Luke warm, and cold. Either option I choose its still oily. I tried not applying moisturizer After I wash and it still looked oily but felt more dry. I don't think it's oily because my face is dry, because I never have flakes. Anyone else have this problem? What's causing it? Help!

Sounds like your skin might be dehydrated. You might be over-washing your face. Oily skin has to do with hormones, but your skin might be irritated from all the washing. NEVER use hot water to wash your face because it dries it out and irritates your skin. What do you use to wash your face and what moisturizer do you use?

Hi! Thank you for the reply. I wash my face 2 times a day morning and night with luke warm water and I wash my face with cetaphil daily facial cleanser. I moisturize after washing with cetaphil daily facial moisturizer.

I'm currently using Korres Pomegranate Balancing Cream-gel moisturiser for my oily face and it instantly mattifies it! It's really awesome, but it's pretty expensive (41$). If you're face is still oily afterwards during the day, you can always blot it with those blotting sheets they sell in drugstores, but even toilet paper or those brown paper to dry your hands can do the trick for free! That's what I do all the time.

I haven't found the secret to stop my glands from overproducing sebum, I dont know if that's even possible lol, 'cause that's how my body is. Maybe that'll stop as I get older. In the meantime, I'm just trying to control it.

I really haven't gotten anything to stop how my face produces oil. I'm clear now through the regimen but the oil is still there. Not sure if the cleansers or products I used made a difference really. I just pat those oil blotting sheets on my face every few hours. It helps a lot especially when I don't want to wear makeup.

This week i've stayed at home a couple of days and as a sort of experiment (okay well i forgot) I didnt wash my face in the morning - and my face didnt even *start* to get oily until about half 7 at night, when it usually is an oily slick literally an hour after washing. The second day that I did this I washed my face at about 2pm, and after that my face started to get really oily like it usually does. I did wake up with oily skin on both occasions, but i just kind of blotted the excess oil off with tissue. I'm going to do this tomorrow because i'm at work all day, and see what happens. I never really bought into the whole 'your skin is oily because youre stripping it off' because i was like "uh how does my skin know if i wash it or not" but i think im on to something here.

I registered just to say this - I used Cetaphil for months, and at first it worked great. But towards the end, I noticed it made my face extremely glossy and oily, and my face did NOT wind up liking it in the long run. It'd be dry as a bone and look like I had a shine to it regardless of what I did. So I'd suggest trying a different cleanser and see if that helps.
