I've started taking optizinc 30mg everyday for almost a week, and my skin has done a complete 180 since then.. I have not gotten any cystic acne, and the inflammation on my face is nearly gone. But this morning,i saw i have started spotting, it's to early to tell if it's a period just yet.. Thing is, i just got off my period earlier this month! What's going on? has anyone had this happen to them? I don't exactly know what role zinc plays with female hormones.. can someone explain?
As far as I'm aware, zinc as no effect on hormones - it is supposed to help the body's growth/repair and healing process. I have been taking chelated zinc for many years, take it as part of my daily routine so hard to say whether it's improved my skin or not. Glad to hear you saw such a big improvement in such a short time, have no idea what your spotting could mean though, maybe something pill related if you take that?
lucky, I took it for almost 3 months and it had no effect on me whatsoever.
What kind of zinc do you take? what brand? I took 50 mg everyday of Zinc gluconate
I researched and found that zinc monomethionine is the best for absorption.. i got the Source Naturals Optizinc 30 mg from Vitamin Shoppe for dirt cheap. I had taken zinc gluconate in the past and found it did nothing whatsoever to my skin. I only take one a day.. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it lasts!
I disagree, zinc has an important role in hormones, it helps regulate hormones. I have also been taken 30 mg zinc gluconate for 1 month and my skin has improve a lot.
I think It works because probably you have low progesterone, as Greengable told us in another thread, and I think zinc can help with it.
