Hello people.

Well I'm a sophomore in High School & I'm about to tell you my long story.

In 7th Grade I had clear skin. My brother was already in high school and he got acne. It was mild acne that left some scarring but its pretty much treatable scarring. After I saw my brothers acne I had a feeling that I was definitely going to get acne but a mild form of it. So the next year in 8th grade my life was awesome. I constantly hung out with my friends and had enjoyable experiences. Around mid-semester I began getting my first zits. I actually remember that day because a friend of mine had told me I had a volcano on my cheek. It wasn't a cyst, It was the red inflamed zits without puss. The following weeks I started getting 3-4 pimples around my face. They never left scars but they made me very insecure. I was glad when summer came. I thought to myself that by the time I enter back to school It would all be solved. I was incorrect, I had nodules all over my face. I talked only to my really close friends because I became so insecure to the point that I got extremely nervous to talk to girls or strangers in general. So my parents took me to my doctor. The doctor prescribed me Doxycilin. It's an antibiotic for acne. I took it for 2 weeks and 60% of my face was clear except for many inflamed nodules. I had enlarged pores and scarring but I thought that the scarring wasn't that bad except for my right cheek which has a large 1X1 inch rolling scar from a cyst. After this, on my next doctors visit I got prescribed Benzamycin. It had benzoyl peroxide and an antibiotic in it in one cream. So Instead of antibiotics I was now on this cream. I used it for 2 weeks and my face was now 98% clear. Then on my next visit I was prescribed 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Gel to be used morning and night. I was happy like this through out the ninth grade. Well I wasn't actually happy, I was just glad that I had solved my acne issue but I was now left with extreme emotional issues, and anxiety. Summer came again and I was getting along "fine" with the Benzoyl Peroxide Gel I was prescribed but when it ran out I thought acne would return but not as bad as before. I was incorrect. 1 week before school started I went to the doctor again and got prescribed Benzamycin again so I could clear myself up. It's been 2 months and I had horrible scaring all over my face now. Both of my cheeks are full of cyst deep in my cheeks. Above my eyebrows and next to my side burns I get red nodules that leave me with extreme discomfort. Those nodules i get in bunches don't go away for about 2 weeks. and when they do I get more and more even though I use Benzamycin. The past 2 weeks Ive actually been on another antibiotic, cephalexin but It was prescribed to prevent an infection in a cut on my toe. I immediately researched it as soon as I recieved it and was happy because I read it was great for cystic acne. I'm about to use the last pills in 2 days and my acne is still horrible. So I am pretty sure antibiotics won't really help acne. As I said in the beginning I'm a sophomore right now. When I go to school I always wear beanies or hoods because of my insecurities from my horrible skin. I signed up to this forum because I want to be happy agian c: like I used to be. I am sick and tired of being sad every single day when I wake up. So here I am :)

I am 42 and my cystic acne is back. I am trying to find a regimen that works again. I use to use Oxy wash 10% BP over the counter and Retin A micro and I kept in under control. Over the past year my acne has become worse and I have tried several different regimens but my acne is not under control. I feel your pain bro, I too am feeling down myself right now. I can't give any words of encouragement without blowing smoke up your bum bumrolleyes.gif but I wanted to tell you that you ARE NOT ALONE. I don't know what we did to deserve this but hang in there and stop taking oral anitbiotics.

I went to the DERM recently and she gave me a regimen with sulfer cleanser and tazorac. I just sucks that we have to wait 2 to 3 months in order to see if the regimen works. It is so hard to be patient. Good luck and keep coming back to this site because this is really the only place that can help us learn and make me feel better. Try your best to focus on the positive, change your thinking and don't keep wollowing, it will only make your acne worse because of the stress. Also, looking in the mirror makes your acne worse than what it actually is because mirrors magnify the images. If you want a better idea of what your acne actually looks like to others take several photos and look at them on your computer, they don't look as bad.

Good luck to you and I hope you feel better. Stop looking in the mirror so much and spend time doing hobbies, study, barry yourself in books and become a scholar.

I hope this helps.

Since you're young, I can bet you your acne is most likely androgenic. The way to solve androgenic acne is by changing your diet. Let me guess what you probably eat.

Grains: Bread, pancakes, donuts, cereal, pastries, etc

Dairy: Milk, cheese, yogurt, etc

Sugar: Soda, Juices, etc

All those are inflammatory foods. Those foods are causing your acne, and probably your brothers too. If you want to get clear and stay clear AND get super healthy, you're going to have to dramatically change your diet, and your mindset of food. Some people say diet has no correlation to acne - They are 100% wrong. Science has disproved this long ago.

Start eating whole foods, which means vegetables, nuts, organic meat, seeds, legumes, and fruits. Anything in a box has to be eliminated. Every meal should be of vegetables and a source of protein and good fats. This is hard for a lot of people because so many people are emotionally attached to food. You have to view food as your energy and not for pleasure. Ironically though, healthy food is DELICIOUS. Steamed vegetables with butter, salt & pepper; Wild-Caught Salmon seasoned with lemon and herbs; amazing. Eggs and vegetables for breakfast; healthy and delicious.

Antibiotics is damaging your system. It's wiping out all of your "good" bacteria. These good bacteria are essential for a properly functioning body. I would start supplementing probiotics immediately; 80-100 billion units daily. Also start supplementing your EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids). Get some flaxseed oil in liquid form and take 1-2 tablespoons with every meal. Also supplement vitamins and minerals with a high quality brand.

I guarantee you you will get clear. I've gotten 5 of my friends clear so far; myself as well.

Also be aware that you could be allergic to certain foods. Soy, eggs, and dairy and some of the most common ones. If you can, get a food allergy test. If not, start eating simple foods and you can pin point what's affecting you.

Best of luck.
