Yeah...I know (Never pop pimples)

 

Well this cystic pimple was huge! So I spent a while steaming my face and applying hot compresses to bring it to a head which it did.

 

I then popped it.

 

Now it's like a big gaping wound and it's so unbelievably red. I did this last night and it's still red as anything.

 

What do you suggest I do?

Leave it alone an put any healing ointment on it you have. Here in the UK sudocrem is a good one, I'm not sure what a US equivalent would be. Keep it well moisturised too

Polysporin cream (an over-the-counter topical antibiotic) and only clean it with a gentle cleanser like Cerave hydrating cleanser. DO NOT put any acne creams on it since it will only further irritate it. If it starts to get oozy, call a dermatologist ASAP. This happened to me once and I got a staph infection on my face. NOT FUN.

I found some Savlon and have been putting that on it.

It's okay now just like a red rough mark which still looks crap but at least it's not sore.
