I've seen numerous posts about this, and thought i'd come right out and address the issue.

Many members swear by using a razor, and others by using an electric. All electric razors were not created equally!

With the shaver i was using before the one i'm using now, i literally ended up smashing it. I was shaving and for the thousandth time, it tugged a hair brutally and painfully from my face. I stopped, threw it on the floor as hard as i could and watched it fly into ten different pieces. It was pretty satisfying.

So, i went out and bought the only electric i've ever had success with, and that was a Remmington. I've tried Braun and Norelco, and have never had success with either of their circular cutting designs, nor the trimmers on the back

Why do you get little red bumps after shaving close? Because you irritated the skin. And perhaps even caused an ingrown hair. While this isn't necessarily acne, but it sure looks like it, and no one will be able to tell the difference.

There is a solution for this. It's called don't shave so close. The Remmington shaver i use, (which doesn't use the circular shaving mechanism, but rather the mesh screen with the two rows of rapidly sweeping cutting devices)... has an extremely effective trimmer on the back. You can get a very close shave using that alone.

Your face is left with a sand paper like texture, so if you want the smooth as a baby's bottom look...sorry. When you shave like this, you aren't causing the skin irritation that you cause when getting a super close shave. And you aren't cutting the hair so low that it causes ingrown hairs. Every time i've tried using the mesh part, it has caused little red bumps of irritation, so I quit trying

This is all using an electric. If you've found the perfect way to shave using a blade/razor, keep at it. But this is what i've found to be the most effective way when trying to avoid red bumps when shaving
