Hello,

Im on Differin & Vibramycin (Doxycycline) since last 12 days. Decided to help the meds today & extracted blackheads on forehead with metal extractor, followed with Proactiv mask. Very stupid, I know!! Im now left with red marks & dots all over my forehead, which looks horrible!! Please, any advice on what to do now to ease/remedy the redness, prevent possible infection, breakout?? Please help, I feel hysterical...

I recommend you just leave your skin to be, the redness will go away within a few hours. No need to panic.comfort.gif

Hey Armadillo, thank you so much for your reply! I agree, I should have left my skin alone, I feel really dumb! Also forgot to mention that I applied Fucicort for 2-3 hours immediately to reduce swelling/redness & now I applied Erythromycin-Zinc complex. Any idea if I should continue with Differin as prescribed by my dermatologist?? Swelling has gone now, but red dots/spots are all over my forehead :(

Try Applying fresh aloe vera from the plant, it should heal it right up and minimize scarring

I came here to ask myself. I am having trouble with the pick-form pimples/redness cycle myself.

Triderma makes an anti-redness moisturizer that doesn't break me out, but lately I've been using ice packs (like ice gel masks for eyes) and bandaids. Sounds silly, but the pressure helps with the bruising and makes me go away quicker.

I'm looking for something to close my perpetually disrupted capillaries...Devita Solar and Mychelle make something specifically for the face, but they're pricey! I think that leaves Rosacea products.

Nfamousjade, I don™t have aloe growing in area where I live, unfortunately (although I may have seen it growing somewhere in the country), & I don™t have any aloe plant (come to think of it, it™s a great plant to have, I™ll be looking for this one now).

Bizz, today I swore to never ever pick my face again unless just one & very very obvious spot!! The emotional trauma we go through post picking is not worth the joy of eliminating all those unsightly blemishes. Sadly, I doubt any of skin care brands you suggested are available in my country, I™ll have to check¦ Except for Band Aid & yeah, ice :D Could ice be the culprit of your disrupted capillaries, by the way?

Thanks for all your help, guys, I really appreciate it, it makes me feel better already :)

Yeah, doesn't picking/popping suck? Cause at first, whilst doing it, it feels like it's the only thing to make your skin feel smoother, look better, blah blah whatever our minds make up. And afterwards it looks absolutely dreadful and we wish all we could do is just stop freaking touching our skin??

Yeah, I've heard Neosporin can help prevent infection too. Though I wouldn't use it often and only after the initial damage. Don't use too much cold or warm water because that just further irritates your skin but yes soothing, cool aloe would do the trick.

Oh and honey does a good job of disinfecting and healing dark marks. Once it's a little more healed I would try some lemon juice mixed in the honey also. That's what I do every other night and my skin I swear to you glowssss like crazy and the marks are seriously almost non-existent.

does the lemon juice and honey lighten the red mark?
