it was a huge cyst, it never came to a whitehead, it was just always red. Till the middle became dark red, filled with blood. Then i washed my face a little bit too hard, and i guess it popped. and it stung so bad, and i looked and theres a big DEEP hole in my face. what can i do to help this??? i need the skin to close this up quickly! everday, it becomes a scab, and when i gently wash my face, the scab goes away, and im left with this deep hole in my face, which can fill up anytime with dirt etc..,. HELP!!!!
It's rarely a good idea to squeeze, however strong the temptation.
To me, that doesn't look too bad at all. I've certainly had much worse ones in the past that didn't lead to a significant scar, so hopefully you'll be lucky. Be as careful as you can when washing that area...and don't squeeze. The trauma to the skin frequently does permanent damage and often will spread the infection and mean further spots.
if your responsible about it, careful, and effective you should be fine. A lot of people just screw up when they pop and make the blemish far worse. Try it once for yourself and see how it works. its your choice if you want scars or not, you just gotta weigh your risks/options.
I know this goes against what almost everyone says about pimples/cysts, but depending on whether or not it's safe to do so, I drain them because I actually scar a heck of a lot worse if I don't touch them, than when I do. I find that with the bigger cysts (where you can see that annoying head just under the surface of your skin), they just stay around forever, go really dark in colour, and then end up like an elevated lump as the infection inside hardens. If I drain it, it at least goes flat and turns into a PIH that fades over time. I'd rather have a PIH mark that fades over a dark raised bump any day.
Tweaker, it looks like it's going to scab over now anyway, so just try to let it dry out as much as possible and wash around it so that it has time to heal. If the scab comes off again, dab some tea tree oil on it so that it doesn't get infected again.
I've had exactly the same experience as MissMia. If I leave cysts they scar, if I CAREFULLY drain them as soon as they're near enough to the surface for me to be able to then they don't scar anything like as bad.
All that said, what you have here is not a cyst. What you need to do is LET it scab over and leave it well alone for a few days. Wash very very carefully so as NOT to take the scab off again. If it comes off accidentally, dab a bit of benzoyl peroxide on the open wound then leave to scab again. What you will find is that if you give it a few days to heal itself underneath the protection of the scab, the scab will then drop off when it is ready and you will have flat healed skin underneath. The major thing is just to let it be, and let it heal itself. Good luck.
