Why isn't anyone healing deep tca peels with bismuth powder like they do with phenol peels?

A scab that stays on before getting removed with aquaphor seems better than being covered with goo constantly, and potentially painful cleaning before reapplying goo.

Details of both:

Topicals:

Moisturizes and protects:Aquaphor helps keep the treated skin moisturized, which is crucial for faster healing and to prevent dryness and tightness.

  • Soothes and protects:It acts as a protective barrier, reducing irritation and locking in moisture during the sensitive post-peel stage.
  • Helps the peeling process:Keeping the skin moist with products like Aquaphor can help the peeling progress smoother and potentially faster.
  • Minimizes complications:Maintaining adequate moisture helps prevent complications such as delayed healing or scarring.
Bismuth subgallate after TCA Peel:
  • Bismuth subgallateis not a standard recommendation for general TCA peel aftercare.
  • While some studies have explored the use of a bismuth subgallate powder ("Yellskreen") as part of a protective scab in specific TCA peel procedures (like chemabrasion for acne scars), this is not a common post-peel care regimen for most patients.
  • Consult your dermatologist or skincare professional:It is crucial to follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner who performed the peel. They will recommend the appropriate products based on your individual needs and the type of peel you received.
